In game 4, Hucke got set a lot more and she pounded the ball down to the floor.
I think the big key is whether Minnesota could shut down both Richards and Hucke (both of them, not one of them only).

I was just thinking the same thing about OSU's 44 kill performace out of Gordon. I think Stanford might add a tougher block and better defense. Richards and Hucke will be the X factor. I think Hucke has been coming on strong lately. She's gotten some nice kills. I can't wait to see the Gentil/Nnamani match up. I wonder if she'll be harder to dig than Gordon. I think Gordon hits the ball harder and she's faster, but Ogonna has a higher trajectory which gives her way more area to work with. Ogonna seems to hit the ball higher and with more sheer force than Stacey, but Stacey seems to get more momentum (if that makes sense) on her attacks and she adjusts amazingly well to "non-perfect" sets even while she's already in the air. Ogonna ripping away at the Gopher defense (not just Paula) ought to make for a very exciting / interesting match Saturday.

I dont' understand why Morrisson didn't get more front row action in place of Leck who added nothing. Morrisson may have started slowly but I thought she was really picking it up. Morrison is still not 100%, after her torn meniscus and her foot injury. It was a good move not to play her all the way around because Leck is a good attacker (though didn't show it today), but not as great as Morrison defensively. Morrison is still a weapon even from the back and she really heated up as the night wore on.

I got to thinking this morning about how we all were wowed by the fact that UW seemed nervous and had that lapse of mental toughness, but maybe we aren't giving enough credit to Stanford because they came out on fire and they are a different team than UW faced in the previous 2 matches. THey came out confident, and that might have rattles UW some. Stanford was def more aggresive than they use too. Lets just give them some credit too.

The best part of watching this match: No Chris Marlowe.
I thought Thompson had a pretty good match setting, I was impressed with her. Her hitters missed a lot of killable sets.

I bet all the folks commenting on the player's wearing headbands actually wear headbands of their own while posting here.

what is with the headbands? they arent very cute and they certainly arent feminine or flattering... Courtney sweats a lot so Jim makes her wear the headband. Sweating and precision setting does not a good combination make. She hates the thing but when the coach tells you to do something... At the regional semi-final the Husky marketing department (who do a wonderful job, btw) handed out headbands before the matches. The NCAA frowns on hosts doing things of a partisan nature, so I asked if this was our "Courtney headband" and they replied, "Yeah, sort of, but don't say that" At the UW-Stanford match in Palo Alto the "best" the crowd could come up for a cheer was "Stupid Headband". I guess that was better then their standard for the last two games "Hey Number <fill in number>, you suck". Not very inventive for such a smart student body. Especially when, for instance, Chrystal would pound the ball down and go back to serve, then cheering "Hey number 9, you suck" didn't really make sense to me.

shhh....dont tell up until i started posting here, i would usually only wear it while watching my richard simmons videos. alright, now thats going WAY too far. we didn't have to bring up the Richard Simmons... this thread should have its title changed to 'all Queens post here'. it should be sponsored by Prada, ID Glide, 24hr Fitness and everyone that posts here MUST be drinking a cosmo at the time of posting while some Steel Magnolias plays in the background. oh yeah, and just so that i stay on topic... Thompson, Gentil, Martin and all those girls that play in headbands are all really good players and whatever they feel comfortable in is alright by me. i'm just not a headband type of guy...
