Texas A&M has only lost 1 match at home this season. That loss was to Florida, and it went to 15-12 in the 5th set. Florida was #14 at that time while A&M was unranked.
I think the Aggies will prevail. They will need solid contributions across all players, and of course we hope that Hollann Hans has a big game again.

This subregional might be a perfect (red) storm for the Johnnies.

I think I'm in the minority in saying that I actually like how ridiculously aggressive Camille Conner is at the net. She has 407 attempts so far this year (MBs Patterson and Talbert have 403 and 446, OPP Rush has 397). Are those attempts that she could give to her offense? Yeah. Kuhn seems to have given her a long leash though because she does score. She's hitting .307 on the year, which is much more effective than her OPP who is hitting .176. She has a variety of shots she can hit on the court but has had some stretches in matches where she tries to do too much—within one rally or on back to back points. In A&M's last match against Florida she tried the same dump to zone 4 on consecutive points and both times it went out. She's not what some might call disciplined, but she's got that spunky south paw that is just fun to watch a setter let loose! I don't think I'd even call her an offensive-minded setter. She's part of the offense and also runs it. It's wacky and I'm wacky enough to like it.
For your perusal, here are some stats from an assortment of other setters running 5-1s in the SEC, B1G, PAC, and Big 12.
Player PCT (attempts) Monserez .252 (202) Lilley .398 (171) Fuentes .271 (107) Hames .198 (172) Blossom .287 (115) Hilley .260 (131) Gray .476 (180) Lazaro .232 (164) Powell .287 (174) Gabriel .192 (52) Lockin .352 (165) McLaughlin .300 (210)

St. John's can't be dismissed as easily as most 4-seeds. Physically they're on par with many major-conference teams. The Red Storm put up a big block, and hit with power on the left. They serve well and while their back line defense is weak, they have a scrappy libero.
What has held them back all season is their mental meltdowns which often followed losses in close sets where they gave up leads. Also, their coach gets out-adjusted. But they figured out the mental part at the Big East tournament. There's no reason to think their level of play will drop off. Still, I don't see them beating A&M in College Station, but it will be competitive.
P.S. Is this the team in the tournament with the most foreign players and/or transplanted Hawiians?

I think probably American has the most intl players.

Never heard the name Efronsini, but I like it, a lot. I don't like it. It sounds Tolkien. Some resident of the forests in Middle-Earth.

Didn’t STJ have tremendous success last year in5 set matches? I think they had quite a few. Surprised this year they experience such mental lapses.
