Stanford will always draw the smallest cause people in California don’t care about volleyball outside of small group.

Last night at Stanford there were maybe 2,000 people, it looked mighty empty on TV Maybe the NCAA should go back to pre-assigned regional hosts? Do not schedule ANY regional to CA until they can fully support it. Keep it rotating at Happy Valley, Madison, Lincoln, Minneapolis, Provo, and Honolulu.

I'm sure it's been done before on VT, but I'd like to see attendance in terms of seating percentage - obviously not all arenas seat the same amount of people. I wonder for teams like MN and IL, who are near 100%, how much more attendance they could have if they had the available seating. And, even NE with the already big VB arena, I bet they could attract even more if they had the room? Is NE at or near capacity? -they must be.

Just to bring a small smidge of reality into this fact-free attendance debate. Stanford finished the regular season with the 9th best attendance in all of D1. If you think Stanford has a major attendance problem, then you also have to recognize that 326 D1 programs have a much bigger problem, including more than half of the B1G and all but Florida in the SEC.

The NCAA stats in the link posted above show attendance as a percentage of seats. Nebraska was 103.5% due to sales of standing room only tickets.

And, in using capacity % ranking, Stanford ranked 49th. The B1G would have 6 if MN's capacity were listed.

Is a school supposed to get some kind of extra special credit award for filling up a small gym compared to bringing more people in to a larger gym? Let's run out and reward artificial scarcity! Yay!
