What does it have to do with volleyball? Didn't someone say she's from Punahoe? She's Punahoen. Jesus H. Christmas... It’s a joke. People were talking about Polish recruit this, Polish recruit that... Finally, when someone said there was a 2022 commitment, one poster said “I hope it’s the Polish recruit” (I paraphrase). So when the name was revealed, I was merely piling on with the Polish thing.

It’s been a good month of recruiting for all three UH programs. Each got some game changers.

Some highlights of Jaclyn Was really impressed with her quickness for setting and digging up balls. Her quick sets to the outside were noteworthy and she's deceptive when she has options. Her sets aren't that smooth, some spin to them. Her credentials include training with the U20 Dominican Republic team Matias has been my favorite setter in the state by far. She has a real calming presence/ice in veins/ scrappiness on the court that reminds me of Kamanao. I think UH fans might have to get used to the 6-2 with many strong arms and two capable undersized setters.

In case anyone needs to be caught up:
2021: Tayli Ikenaga 5'4 L Honolulu, HI (Moanalua HS) Mia Johnson 6'0 OH League City, TX (Cedar Falls HS) Colleen Temple 6'2 M/OH Baton Rouge, LA (University Lab HS) Annika De Goeda 6'2 OH Netherlands *** Unknown 5th commit 2022: Jaclyn Matias 5'9 S Honolulu, HI (Punahou HS)
--- I'd assume, 2021 class is finished. 2022, likely one or two scholarship left (assuming Springborn and/or Ikenaga may be walk ons)

Aloha, Wolfgang and others. Thanks for the "welcome back" comments. Been a rough year losing my mom. Then my dog passed and then leaving the paper after almost 40 years with a Honolulu daily. I am not sure where my website is headed. It may be similar to VolleyShots but the nice thing, as Wolfgang says, I get to do what I want. That includes things outside of volleyball, such as the story I did on the PA voice of the LA Rams. Don't think recipes are in the future and not travel photos given the current situations. And definitely not for pay ... not at the moment. The other nice thing is I am a licensed sports business and will be able to get credentials. Stay safe everyone and be well. Cindy

Jaclyn looks to be a rough diamond waiting to be polished. Although at 5’9 she is a little short like Higgins. I guess 6-2 will be around for a little while. Welcome to the Bows’.

Ah Mow has really come into her own as a coach the last season or so. Still the same in terms of intensity, but definitely able to show more of the softer and lighter side as well. REALLY loved this interview. Glad she didn't go to LBSU out of high school lol.
For those following scholarships/recruiting, Springborn is a walk on. She was gonna attend UH regardless and asked if she could walk on. This means only 10 scholarship players right now, 11 if you count Hanawahine (I'd say its likely she's on scholarship her final year).

Higgins was a six-rotation setter before Iosia arrived. Kamana‘o, Vakasausau and Ah Mow herself were even smaller, but were six-rotation and were either all-conference or All-American or both. No reason why Lang can't be a full-time 5-1 setter in the upcoming season or Matias, when her time comes.
