2021 will be a very BIG recruiting year for Robyn and the Wahine. Since last year's 5 Freshmen will be Juniors going into the 2021 season. Robyn and the Wahine will be losing 2 Outside Hitters, Jolie Rasmussen and BVS, along with a Middle, Skylar Williams. Also, Mylana Byrd will be a Senior in 2021. So in essence, Robyn will need at least one more Outside Hitter, a Setter, and quite possibly another Middle. One good thing though, the players that Robyn recruits in 2021, will possibly not have to be force fed, with the idea of starting right away. They will have some time to get accustomed to Robyn's style of practice, and playing. Seems a little late in the recruiting cycle for 2021 to try to replace a large class. Looks like Hawaii only has one 2021 committed. (Maybe I am wrong on the number but I am going off of Rich Kern)

Those players who develop late, are still open to be recruited. There is also the European players to consider.

In Cindy's article in the newspaper about the beach team posted today, she mentions Krug is no longer playing indoors and will be beach only.

In Cindy's article in the newspaper about the beach team posted today, she mentions Krug is no longer playing indoors and will be beach only. I can see why she had to walk away from indoors. I don’t think she has fully recovered from her injury and sticking to beach will prevent to re-aggravate that injury, just like Scoles. Good luck to her.

I know big schools are already going after Devon so Robyn should get in this quickly! Was one of those that 6-2 outside, lanky but very capable as a underclassmen? I remember there was some local girl fans were high on? Wouldn’t current HS sophomores be 2022 grads? That is Devon. She has a really high ceiling. Lanky right now and not the best 6 RO oh, but she shows huge promise. Robyn needs to offer her

Re. Kamalei Krug, I’m sure it was a lot of factors including the infusion of talent at the middle (Igiede, Westerberg, Akana, Kiraly, plus much improved Williams) and her injury. I wonder, however, how realistic her chances are on the beach. I mean, lots of talented girls never made much of a dent on the beach despite attempts, see, e.g., Mitchem, Gaskin, Higgins, Manu-Olevao, Castillo.

She's young so she has 4 years to do it, plus if she's training full time, you never know. If Hall did recruit her out of high school he must have seen something in her.

Bummer regarding Krug. But yeah, definitely would have been an uphill battle for her getting playing time with the kind of talent and depth Hawaii now had in the middle and outside. Still, it's always nice to have a walk on hitter as typically walk ons are defensive specialists.
As of today Gong and Williams are the only connections to Shoji and Hall.

I think the frustration of being unable to get healthy along with stiff competition made her choose. She have put on too much weight and her injury have prevented her from being able to work out and lose the weight.
If you have a chance to look at her HS picture, she had a pretty developed D1 type body. I was kind of high on her too but saw her a couple of times around town and just thought she will have a hard time cracking the lineup in her current condition.
Hope she can rehab the knee and get herself in better shape and maybe she can walk back on later. The pounding on the hardwood probably doesn't help in her aim to get better. Beach could be the answer for her.
