Keonilei Akana will be a wahine. She's got the potential to be a BVS type OH/L for UH. Before JR went down the Wahine were running a no Libero system. With Akana on the roster, I suspect that would be even stronger.

Oh man, you are so out of touch. She would have been the libero if she chose to stay.

Oh man, you are so out of touch. She would have been the libero if she chose to stay. Keller advised her that she wouldn't be... So there's that. The family (and her friends) are obviously going to suggest that this was Akana's decision, rather than USC pulling out but it's fair to say this is the best outcome for both parties.

Keonilei as a Wahine, literally the only good new UH fans have had since UH men beat BYU in 5. I know I haven't said this on the board, but as a fan of ALL UH sports... this has been such a sad season. So much bigger than sports of course... but my gosh. I was heartbroken.
YAY!! We finally have our libero. I think she'd start over Hanawahine, who just doesn't have the reach on defense at only 5'2. I like her coming in as a serving sub tho or spot play on defense if needed.

This is crazy how you know so little and yet you're posting things that are untrue and made up. This was 100% Akana's decision. They were surprised at this request. She was not 'advised' that she wouldn't be anything as you suggest. Keonilei is in the driver's seat. You need to stop while you're behind.

Welp! We have our 12 scholarships filled. With Akana now in at libero along with a few outsides that can play the position, I say were in a good place!
Only position I'm concerned about is setter. We're stacked everywhere else. Just gotta hope everyone stays healthy.
I just hope we even get to see the 2020 season.

You remember when you told the other poster that you knew Akana so they should trust you? Yeah, I get you know the family... I broke Keller's hiring on here, among other things related to him... My source is better than yours. This is the best outcome for BOTH parties.

Keller was also the top choice in the 'who's the new USC coach poll'. You may have been the first one to post it (congratulations!), but it wasn't breaking news and didn't add any credibility to you. I did not say I knew the Akana's nor to trust me. Reread the post carefully. This is NOT the best outcome for USC. They lost out big time.

As I said, her friends and family will obviously say it was her call. I'm sure it'll work out better for her. Hopefully she ends up at UH.

I don't know any of the Akanas but if Keonilei originally committed to USC, she may be leaning toward a mainland school. Lots of kids in Hawaii want to venture out and see the world outside "the rock." I spent my youth in Hawaii and left before high school (military brat) but even as a kid, I wanted to go to a mainland school even though I followed UH sports. Of course, we soon moved to the mainland for my high school years so that made it easier. The only difference with me was that before Hawaii, we had lived in and moved around several states, the last being Arkansas before my dad was stationed in Hawaii. So, I had some knowledge of life outside "the rock," even though places like Arkansas were just the worst.
