A long time ago, I think my sophomore/junior year of high school, I was planning on going away for school. USC was the first choice, but I got addicted to meth ending of Junior year & my dreams of going to college were gone. I've been clean & sober for going on 19yrs in July so well that's that. Lol.

Remember seeing this video before, and I think Lang is a great prospect at setter for sure. At least from this video, Lang has some nice hands and her set location and tempo is very consistent from wherever she is on the court. Her sets float, which is a good thing. Of course, doesn't hurt to have hitters that can rip. I believe five hitters on this TAV team went to Power 5 schools.
I remember this was the video where she got some flack for bump setting so much. Lots of bump setting, but that could be more of the club's coaching versus Lang's inability to get to get squared under the ball off broken passes/digs. Still, most of the bumps sets were nice! Wish she had a bit more footage setting in the middle, becasue the sets to the middle were high 2s. I thought that was interesting as well. Her sets for the step out/slide were butter tho.
I am interested to see what system Ah Mow decides to run with the setters she has in Lang and Byrd. We ran a modified 6-2 in 2018 out of necessity, and in 2019 because of how good Ioisa/Choy both were. But I really don't think Lang and Byrd based off experience (Lang's a freshman), ability (I'm unsure about Byrd's setting), experience (both are new to the program), and natural tools present (do you really bring in a 6'2 Byrd just to play 3 rotations in the back), make the best 6-2 duo lol. Just being honest, but a lot can change, especially with Ah Mow and the staff's ability to get the best out of its players.
But ultimately, if the two can't be similar enough in their setting for the hitters to have consistency in a 6-2, I'd go for a 5-1.

On to recruiting, I wonder how much this COVID-19 has impacted 2021 recruiting? I know we have Johnson out of Texas, who certainly looks like a good one. But we have two more to give with the summer coming up where most top level juniors will start making commitments. We lose Van Sickle, Rasmussen, and Williams on scholarship. I'd go for an outside and also a setter. I know three setters in one season is a lot, but might be good to bring someone in that can train with Byrd being a senior that year.
Seems like a lot of Hawaii fans want Devon Kahawai (OH) out of Kamehameha and Nive Tuileta (S) out of St. Francis.

I would like to see Maui Robins in a Wahine uniform. She seemed more of a clutch player than Devin Kahahawai. I know they are both sophomores and still have two more years to mature and improve, but I honestly like Maui Robin's game more than Kahahawai. Kahahawai seemed to crash under pressure a lot. Again both are still young and can make drastic improvements to their game by the time they enter college.
Quick correction Nive Tuileta plays for Le Jardine. And St. Francis closed their doors last year.
