We need to take a moment and seriously appreciate what Salima did for the program. She was an excellent recruiter.
PSU AD should do whatever she can to get her back. She is a must for replacing Russ, IMO, when he retires.

They are constantly missing bigger recruits and have for awhile

We lost 2 big recruits after Salima left.

Is PSU seriously looking for transfers? What role do Dennis and Katie have in recruiting? We must move on from talking about Salima. PSU has a coaching staff in place.

Recruiting is a huge part of having success at the college level. Texas is ample proof. We lost 2 big recruits after Salima left. The assumption you are making is just that an assumption and you dont know exactly why certain recruits decided to go elsewhere. Salima is NOT coming back to State College in the near or distant future. She and her family have rooted where they are and she seems extremely happy in her current freedoms and opportunities. So that ship has sailed and whether it would have been successful is debatable. Russ has an exellent staff and team coming back. Today's kids tend to want the personal touch or recognition in recruiting....for some it borderlines on "fawning". Russ does and has said exactly what any top recruit need and more importantly deserves to hear and feel. Whether they or their parents get it is beyond his control He is authentic and that can never change....nor should it. Those "misses" are disappointing but perhaps they are where THEY need to be. Keep the faith, PSU will contend and be in the hunt soon....perhaps very soon.

Keep the faith, PSU will contend and be in the hunt soon....perhaps very soon. Actually, I was not assuming about one of the two recruits. She, in fact, stated that she changed her mind because Salima left. Also, several current players have said that they came to PSU because Salima recruited them. I agree that she's probably never coming back, but I still think she was a key cog to the previous success of the program. She was an excellent recruiter and will be sorely missed by this fan. Also, I'm not upset that some recruits decided to decommit or that players transferred out, but consistently getting highly ranked commitments is a big part of any program's success. I was not insinuating that Russ cannot recruit, only that at his age he leans on his staff to do the legwork with regard to recruiting. Coaching up (i.e., developing) the players we have was never an issue. I can see a good things happening in 2021, but success in 2020, for me, is questionable. I hope you're right and I'm wrong about the "very soon" part.

She is a must for replacing Russ, IMO, when he retires. Couldn’t be a bigger fan of Salima but hiring someone who has A. No head coaching experience and more importantly B. Having zero interest in college coaching let alone head coaching. Russ is the best recruiter they’ve had.
