Bracketology won't be released for a few more weeks. but as of now, the magic ball says Penn State will be okay. Stanford will not.

Bracketology won't be released for a few more weeks. but as of now, the magic ball says Penn State will be okay. Stanford will not. Gotta win something to be okay. I'm sure the COVID break was killer for preparation. And now forcing make-up matches in is really going to hurt. Basically what happened to the basketball team: the COVID break killed momentum, took away recovery time, and took away some matches that were winnable.

PSU needs to win the Purdue matches and the OSU rematch for sure!

Just want the kids, coaches and trainers to remain healthy.....way more important.

At this point, just kill me. This is easily the worst academic year for Penn State sports in 20 years. Of all friggin' times for this...

What changed? During the Minnesota match I thought both teams were top 10 maybe even top 5. This is really disheartening and frustrating.

Passing not great and I don't think Gabby is connecting with the middles very well. But I'm not a coach, so take my 2 cents as you want!

I'm perplexed. I've seen comments that this is the worst Penn State team in a long time, but isn't this basically the same team that was 25-7 the last time they played, advancing to the Regional Final and losing a competitive match to the eventual national champs? They have their best three hitters back from that year, the same setter, and some legitimately contributing newcomers. I know Kendall White was really good, but was she really that good? Yes, they laid an egg tonight, but I still think this team has the pieces to be good. I wouldn't want to play them.

Losing out on the Maryland matches will loom large for making the tournament. At this point, I just want to make the tournament even if we get bounced bad in the first round. Just keep the streak alive... Figure some sh** out and win matches.

I get that, but a winning record is better than a losing one.

You are omitting the largest factors-the inability to train and play matches (when your opponents are training and playing matches). Ohio State has good B1G players-or these players wouldn’t have beat Wisconsin in Nov of 2019-but all things equal- Penn St should probably win...but not when Penn St isn’t training. Why do you think Cal and Arizona beat Stanford? Stanford has practiced less than Penn State. . . Penn State and Stanford have elite players, but elite players who are only training on an occasional basis can get beat by good players who are playing and training. . . We’ll see how it goes. . . 🏐🤷🏻♀️

It's been quietly reported that the football team basically didn't practice last season because Penn State as a whole was so conservative with COVID19 precautions. I wonder if that's carrying over to the spring sports. It's an excuse to an extent, but I think there's legitimacy to it. Doesn't make it any easier as a fan to see us sucking, but... I do want our students and staff to be safe.

A nice little tidbit, courtesy of Ethan Kasales at Dignittany:
"Five former Penn State players are coaching in this year’s tournament, including Alyssa D’Errico (Dayton), Megan Shifflett Bachmann (Towson), Arielle Wilson (Georgia Tech), Nicole Fawcett (Ohio State), and Katie Schumacher-Cawley, who is in her third season as a Penn State assistant coach."
