I just read the comments about projects like the Fieldhouse. On my daily walks to get out of the house, the field house project has already begun. It is all fenced off and there is plenty of excavating equipment to get started. This is day 3 as they continue to add to the equipment, the Cullen construction trailer and port-a-potties have arrived. I thought it might get delayed but it sure looks like it's moving forward. All state building projects are continuing as scheduled. However, future projects, based on their budget...who knows?

Looks like Punzel's wife has the virus Is it his wife or Dennis himself? Or is he just feeling sad that they can't go out and celebrate properly.

Sheffield shared the above tweet with a comment of "Prayers out to Bev as she fights this thing off. We are all thinking of you guys!"

My way-too-early thoughts: Haggerty / Loberg (Kraft) Rettke / Hart Hilley / Robinson (Ashburn) Barnes This seems like the best starting line up. Wisconsin should be in contention for the championship this year!

I listened to that the other day. Seems she is going to be playing in Instanbul for Turkish Airlines if and when there is a another European pro season. An upstart team. Interesting.

I love listening to her. So articulate. And she was that way as a freshman in college. I guess years of experience.
She may feel like a caged lion, but I am sure her family is happy to have her around for a while.

Found it interesting that she didn't fully dodge the, "Face of Team USA" talk. At the end of last summer Jordyn Poulter was getting some run with the 1st Team and people were wondering if she had supplanted Carlini as Setter #1. Lauren seems fairly confident about her place in the setting hierarchy.

Lauren seems fairly confident about her place in the setting hierarchy. I think she appreciated the complement, but she also said it made "her skin crawl," or something to that effect. She clearly felt she put herself in a good position to be included in the squad. That's fair I think. They kept piling it on, at which point she's not going to be rude.

I. Cannot. Fathom. This. Right. Now. I am with you, but I also cannot fathom a bench-seat fieldhouse packed with sexagenarians (and up). I can barely fathom a season without fans, but I suppose it's a possibility (see Siena BB, ca. 1990).

This is BAD look for Alvarez and Wisconsin
To cheap to pay for 35 spring athletes to come back in 2021.
From article: Alvarez said the NCAA action impacted around 35 Badgers seniors. UW has 10 spring sports: softball, men's and women's outdoor track and field, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's rowing and women's lightweight rowing.

I. Cannot. Fathom. This. Right. Now. I do wonder how this would work for those players. In theory, 3 of those names would still have redshirts available. That is probably also true of spring sports, but who knows how they choose to go forward with that. It wouldn't surprise me that, if they cancel, fall sports will be treated a bit differently. Whether someone like Rettke would come back for a 5th season (if possible) rather than go pro is a different question. I think somehow seasons will be played. Whether they are played on-time, with a full schedule, with fans, or anything else...who knows. But, I remain of the belief that at some point in May or June we will no longer be able to keep things shut down and we will have to go on with our lives. If that means younger folks reemerge and immune compromised remain distanced or something like that, so be it. We ought to also have better testing and treatment by then, too. If I were an odds maker, I would say that it is more likely that they play in front of empty arenas than not play at all. Fortunately (sadly), volleyball players are accustomed to playing in front of empty arenas. Apart from a handful of B1G schools, Texas, BYU, and a few others.
