I do wonder if AVCA poll rankings will play into selection committees thoughts without non-con play. If the even PAC upper half continues to beat up on each other and keeps their rankings in the their rankings in the 15-25 range, that could end up to the benefit of Purdue because the there's such a gap between them and the Big Ten bottom 6. Not sure committee puts any stock in poll, nor should they

Wouldn’t surprise me if it was incorporated this year I think polls can have a sub conscious impact on people, but there’s more nonsense in coaches poll than there is in selection committees and that’s a helluva statement. It’s certainly going to be far more subjective given they’ve lost some tools in which to measure teams by (non conference, rpi)

Kind of interesting that they chose Blackwell for Defensive Player of the Week by cherry-picking her stats for one game. Congrats to the Hoosiers for putting up 22 blocks as a team in one match, but they'd also just lost to a very depleted Iowa team the day before in 4 sets. In that match, Blackwell had 2 blocks for the game.
I thought the award would go to Otec, who had 52 digs on the weekend (5.2 per set) or maybe even Rollins, who had 49 digs (4.9 per set). Both contributed huge defensive plays that kept their teams in two very competitive matches. I get that maybe they didn't want to award Otec because Purdue lost twice, but still think it's hilarious to overlook their 10 set defensive numbers in favor of Blackwell's one match performance.
If the weekly awards are being distributed for single-match performances, they better get ready to give it to Rettke just about every week.

How many teams do we get into the tourney? Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Nebraska seem like locks and Penn State probably just needs to take care of business against teams that they're better than. For Purdue, the games @penn State, @osu, and vsIll will be really important, and I think they'll have to go 3-3 to make an impression on the committee beyond the eye test. Ohio State needs to take care of business and pull off an upset at some point. Illinois is currently on the outside looking in IMO and having away matches at MN and Purdue doesn't help with that. I don't see the other 6 as having a chance. And the most important question. Does anyone know where Michigan stands right now with COVID precautions? Locks - Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, Purdue, Penn State Bubble - Ohio State Michigan is 0-0 with a very difficult remaining schedule. I think five teams locked in the tournament might be a really high number. I would think that five B1G teams get in at most. The committee has some really tough decisions to make this season, that's for sure.

The committee understands the strength of the Big Ten. With 18 at-large spots available, 11 will go to Big Ten and PAC 12, probably 6 and 5, maybe 7 and 4. The three other power 5 leagues will split the other 7.

Let's just declare independence and form our own committee.

The three other power 5 leagues will split the other 7. The committee’s infatuation with the Big 10 was irresponsible last year. You really think the At-Larges will be limited to Power 5 only? I certainly don’t. Especially when other conferences (AAC, Big East, MVC, C-USA) have at large teams from last year that did play out of conference.
