I wish Purdue vs. Nebraska was on the spring schedule. I was disappointed it wasn't tbh. Last year's matches were fun

I wish Purdue vs. Nebraska was on the spring schedule. Nebraska is really luckily honestly. They are obviously a very good team and always will be but Nebraska’s passing isn’t quite as bad as Minnesota’s but still isn’t great and they don’t have the fire power to overcome the Purdue defense like minny did.

Nebraska has more firepower across the board with the exception of Samedy. And Nebraska has better pin blocking. I think NE-Purdue match up well and it'd be an exciting match.

I really disagree with this and it’s not just Bc I don’t like Nebraska. I very much respect them as a program and players but Kubik and Sun are probably better overall players than Landfair and Rollins. but they don’t have the same heat and angles. Both of those are pretty important against Purdue specifically because the only way minny got balls to drop consistently was to hit it so hard that nobody could dig it. Agree about the blocking though. I also don’t think Purdue would just roll Nebraska. It would be a fun and exciting match

Both Kubik and Sun have plenty of "heat/angles" to work with. Even more with Nebraska having a middle attack than can take blockers/defenders away.

I wish Purdue vs. Nebraska was on the spring schedule. You can never totally rule out any matchups given the COVID cancellations. Nebraska wanted to pick up Michigan State last weekend, but obviously Ohio State got the opportunity instead.

She literally tries to swing high hands EVERY time. She’s pretty good at finding them I’ll admit but that’s what I see from her everytime I watch. Sun can absolutely smash the ball but how often does she actually try and do that?

How many teams do we get into the tourney? Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Nebraska seem like locks and Penn State probably just needs to take care of business against teams that they're better than.
For Purdue, the games @penn State, @osu, and vsIll will be really important, and I think they'll have to go 3-3 to make an impression on the committee beyond the eye test. Ohio State needs to take care of business and pull off an upset at some point. Illinois is currently on the outside looking in IMO and having away matches at MN and Purdue doesn't help with that. I don't see the other 6 as having a chance.
And the most important question. Does anyone know where Michigan stands right now with COVID precautions?

Just because they can do it, doesn't mean they have to. It's all a part of being a smart hitter. Using high hands, on a block that isnt very good (which Purdue's isnt) can be more effective than just hammering it. I dont think its a coincidence one of Kubik's best matches last year came against Purdue.

I also said I think Sun and Kubick are better players overall than Landfair and Rollins right now but Landfair and Rollins are both way more aggressive and that really helped them against Purdue. I just don’t think it’s a good match up for Nebraska.

Purdue probably can't afford to lose to either OSU or Illinois. Beating PSU would change the narrative though. The bubble will be tight.

I think Purdue needs to and can do better than 3-3 in those matches. It was always going to be an uphill battle against Minnesota, but they would have pulled out at least one win there if Samedy didn't go off. I think they are a bit more solid than Illinois right now. PSU is closer call, but they can take at least one against them from what I saw. Purdue can't let the disappointment of the weekend affect them. There has been a tendency in past seasons to let such losses metastasize. As Cleveland gets more time, they will get substantially better. They still have a lot of upside.

I do wonder if AVCA poll rankings will play into selection committees thoughts without non-con play. If the even PAC upper half continues to beat up on each other and keeps their rankings in the their rankings in the 15-25 range, that could end up to the benefit of Purdue because the there's such a gap between them and the Big Ten bottom 6.
