Is Shaffmaster not in the running?

Kubic won B1G FOY last year, but you can make that case that Temi Thomas Ailara was more important to Northwestern than Kubic to a loaded Nebraska squad. Londot could really carry OSU, but if OSU doesn't have a good record at end of year, her chances of winning are significantly reduced, probably even minimal. That's just usually how it works. I'm not saying it's right. Ohio St. will probably exceed Northwestern's 2019 win total in B1G matches the next weekend they play.

Is Shaffmaster not in the running? if minny wins the title probably but otherwise no imo. Ohio State isn’t going to win the title but I don’t think they have to for Londot to win it. Idk why but like that’s just how it makes sense to me lmao.

FOY is not an MVP award. Still voters do tend to value 6 rotation OHs more than 3 rotation hitters, or setters. So I think Landot has an advantage there. It's not a slam dunk though, and there is a lot of season to play. The award typically goes to someone on one of the teams that finishes top as I remember. Landot could be an exception to that rule. it’s Londot but I agree. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love Robinson but Londot so far from what I’ve seen is deserving. Four matches... against two teams that will finish bottom-3 in the league.

She needs to cut down on the errors though for her to step up to the elite level but she’s a freshman that has played 4 matches so I’m sure she figures it out.

Maryland and Michigan St. will finish even to or above Rutgers, Indiana, & Iowa. Ohio St. could be 10-12 in the B1G without beating anyone better than them. One upset gets them to .500.

The B1G Freshman of the Year has come from a team outside the league's top-5 finishers just once in the last fifteen season: in 2017 when Wisconsin finished 7th and Dana Rettke won it.
In fact, the FOY has come from the 1st or 2nd-place team in the league 9 times since 2005. Londot is a nice player, but she won't be the FOY.
