So far I have seen every team in the B1G play, and I agree that there has been a significant upgrade in the usual bottom-dwelling teams and the middle tier teams. Rutgers in particular (despite its current record) looks like a transformed team. I think their setter is the best I've seen, not just in the B1G, but in any match I have watched (and that includes both Hilley and Lilley,so flame me all you want).

B1G women's volleyball is starting to look like B1G men's basketball where every single match is a dog fight, where even the lowest-tier teams are competing at a high level. Great time for VB fans. Not so much for VB coaches.

This is all true, but I distrust the sample size and I know teams evolve over a season, so I'm not willing to be quite that forward, yet. We'll know soon enough.

I'm not seeing it. I think the top of the Big Ten looks considerably better than the top of the Pac-12. But the bottom of the conference looks worse than the bottom of the Pac-12.

In the Pac, Arizona State knocked off Washington and Oregon St beat USC. Nobody in the bottom tier of the Big Ten has upset a team with legitimate at large hopes. At least not yet.
