Okay I'm bored in the house and in the house bored - here's my pre-season 14-player All MW team: OH: Mariena Hayden (Sr., UNLV), Breana Runnels (R-Sr., Colorado State), Desiree Sukhov (Sr., Fresno State), Kayla Afoa (Sr., Nevada) MB: Jackie McBride (Sr., Wyoming), Jessica Donahue (Jr., Boise State), Corinne Larsen (Jr., Utah State), Rachel Murphy (Jr., New Mexico) OPP: KC McMahon (Jr., Wyoming), Amaria Kelly (So., Fresno State) S: Camryn Machado (R-Jr., San Diego State), Danielle Boss (Jr., Boise State) L: Reagan Leonard (Sr., Fresno State), Sarah Smevog (Jr., San Jose State) Hayden and Runnels are my picks for the pre-season POY I tried to have a player from all 11 teams, but Air Force didn't have any standout players returning. Would you say they’re flying under the radar?

Colorado State releases their schedule: csurams.com/sports/womens-volleyball/schedule/2020Conference is going with a 16 match, modified double round-robin: play 4 teams once, and the remaining 6 on double-headers. Honestly, the conference standings might be a bit of a crapshoot next year with the imbalance. CSU gets New Mexico, Boise State, San Diego State, and Utah State once, but has the rest of the conference twice. Not sure of any rhyme or reason behind who you play once versus twice, seems like they abandoned travel partners for this season. Big advantage for Wyoming getting CSU at home for both matches, but double-headers will create some interesting results for every team I think.

How does UNLV look this year? Honestly, this could be their best chance and winning the conference. UNLV returns all but one of their setters in a 6-2, and if Mariena Hayden can stay healthy, the Rebels should be a force. I really like this team, I think they could sneak into the tournament as an AQ if they schedule correctly. UNLV, CSU, and Wyoming are my picks for the top three. UNLV has to play at CSU twice, and no idea if they play Wyoming once or twice.

And hopefully the local freshman you brought in can be better than the setter that graduated? I don’t see UNLV taking a step forward.

Capllonch had 15 double-doubles last season. I think it’s easy to see UNLV improve, given Hayden had injury issues last year. If Runnels is done the top of the MW is easily up for grabs.

That very well may be...my comment was more directed at the delivery (returns all but of the the setters in a 6-2). .I just thought it was a funny post from the ultimate optimist. In actuality they ran a 6-2 with 2 setters last year and lost the top one. Replacing her with probably a superstar freshman. Cup half full.

Interesting that Air Force has matches scheduled against Army and Navy after the conclusion of the regular season, the 1st week of the NCAA Tournament. Yeah, sure, no chance that Air Force wins the Mountain West, but I'm not sure I've seen that before.
