Buettner is so fun to watch. Those last 3 points in the 4th were impressive. REALLY wish she had another year.

Love the energy and engagement between the players and coaches. They have a great culture. And yes, when they pass well they can make plays. Just need to pass more consistently. They serve very well and with very few errors which is impressive.

OSU was there for the taking. Hawks let this slip away. You could see on their faces in the 3rd set they were defeated. Coming off two emotional losses, I could see a poor performance against Indiana.

I agree, they were up late in both of the first 2 sets. It would be great to have a breakthrough win in one of these. They have played their most competitive volleyball against the three best teams they have faced.

I didn’t have them winning either match this weekend but was impressed with the Minn battle. Just watched the Ohio State match and thought Iowa was going to be up 2-0. They could have taken this one.

Tough week ahead in the sense Indiana/Illinois each have an opponent they theoretically know they’re over-matched by, but also know they HAVE to beat Iowa. Indiana to ensure they have a chance with at the tournament (they’ll have to be perfect against the bottom half and steal 1-2 away from ranked B1Gs) and Illinois to stay out of the bottom.
T Illinois hasn’t had a losing B1G since the dumb COVID season (and still finished top half). They’re teetering on the edge of joining the cellar dwellers this season along with the Michigans. With teams like Indiana and Northwestern trying to surge out someone has to take their place down there.
Indiana is the toughest serving team in conference and that should cause major issues but with Nebraska looming the following night maybe we catch an unfocused, jittery, or error prone Hoosier squad. Especially after Wisconsin smacked them back to reality, that they’re much improved but not enough to compete at the top.
Illinois will likely be thrashed by Penn State the night before so maybe that leaves them vulnerable for us. Same logic that applied to the Ohio State matchup and we were close there for the first two sets.
Gut check week for sure.

Indiana is a bad match-up & after 2 tough losses, I could see them not being mentally ready. Last years match there wasn't pretty. TV caught Barnes dropping an F bomb. Women's basketball got a commitment tonight from Peoria's Aaliyah Guyton & the 24 class is pretty good. Maybe one day we'll get there for volleyball...🙏

I just saw the NCAA selection top 10 and Minn is #10 and all I could think is Iowa went 5 sets with them. I’ve seen them improve each week. Now they go on the road vs Indiana and Illinois. Have they improved enough? We will see.

A lot of schools don’t list a redshirt but then list players as grads when they go to school their 5th year. Not sure why, it is just something that I think depends on the school.

You're right: I also have seen schools handle that way. But on Iowa's official roster site, they: - do have some players listed with "redshirt" in their class categorization. (Ex: Sydney Dennis is listed as "RS So" and Anna Davis as "RS Jr", which are both accurate and match their bios) - have some players who have redshirted a season who do have the redshirt season accounted for in the categorization, but they've left off the "RS" part on the roster. (Ex: Amanda Darling is listed as "Jr" in her 4th season when should be "RS Jr" and Delaney McSweeney is listed as "Sr" in her 5th season when should be "RS Sr"...both of their bios even call out their previous redshirt seasons) - have some players who have redshirted a season who do not have the redshirt season accounted for in the categorization at all. (Ex: Nataly Moravec and Maddy Hanson both redshirted in their first season (2022), but are listed as "So" on the roster when should be "RS Fr"...and their bios, sadly, don't even reference their 2022 seasons at BYU and Denver, respectively, at all) Translated: it appears Iowa is all over the place on this, as they've approached it 3 different ways on their roster site. hawkeyesports.com/sports/wvball/roster/

That’s weird because I went to the roster page and it has the redshirts listed and where the transfers prev played. hawkeyesports.com/sports/wvball/roster/Although with Covid, redshirts and grad years I’m a little bewildered on how they keep up. It had it exactly the way I described it earlier this morning. I checked before I posted it. Imagine that.
