I wouldn’t say that—are they tellers and screamers—no. But the have shown the ability to improve the team over a season. I know the parents of a player and the players love the staff and the family atmosphere they are building That’s all relative to the practice gym and program culture, and that’s all very nice. But my response was in regard to who’s going to bring the fire and fun in matches. I don’t think it’s off base to say based on all the matches we’ve seen so far, based on the visible body language from the staff, the fire or fun in matches isn’t going to come from the coaches. And that’s completely fine if it works… is it working? Is it going to work in B1G play? I would never prescribe that coaches should act 1 way in practices and another way in games. Very rarely do I see fired up volleyball coaches on the sideline. Maybe in high school.

Barnes is a lot more like Sheffield than Aird and that is fine by me. Is it working? Who knows. I know the team has improved and we are stronger at every pin position than we were last year. We will know for sure in 2 years. I think we all know that if we don’t get better passing and more accurate sets, the hitting will not make the difference it should. It is a process that will take a few years. I've got no problem with how the staff manages matches. In 3 of the 4 losses, the better team won in my opinion. I think the lack of fire or intensity is due to self confidence. Court coverage with 3 pins playing 6 rotations is not going to be great but might be their best option. We'll see how the new lineup looks in Big Ten play. First 7 matches are rough with at Illinois and at Indiana the best chances of being competitive. It would be nice to not start 0-7 or 1-6 & give them something to build off of but that might not be realistic.I agree that the order of the B1G opponents is brutal for the Hawks...more of the possibly "winnable" matches come later in the conference season so remaining positive and having good showings in those first 7 or so matches will be important.

Hoping Iowa can win at least five in conference.

Hoping Iowa can win at least five in conference. I think 5 is the sweet spot. After the top 7 teams, it certainly seems like it could be anyone on a given night.

Iowa (8-4) vs Minn (4-4) on FS1. Thursday at 6pm central. Gophers are very talented but I think it’s a good time to play them. If Iowa can match their Iowa State performance it will be entertaining.

Hawks need a poor passing performance from Minnesota to stay in the match. Curious to see how the latest lineup looks against a quality team. Would be nice to have a good showing with the match on FS1

In theory this is great. I'm skeptical volleyball will see a significant difference however. PostPrime needs to open up the checkbook 😂

PostPrime needs to open up the checkbook 😂 I think it will make a difference, but to have a big impact someone will have to actively solicit donors specifically for volleyball. Time will tell if that happens.

Well, Iowa pushed Minnesota to 5. A total rebuild with four newcomers in the lineup, I give them a big hand.

Competitive start to B1G play! Ohio State could potentially be in a very vulnerable spot on Sunday. OSU’s pre-conference was not good. And they could be less than 48 hours out from an absolute smackdown by Nebraska, on the road (hopefully). The Hawkeyes have much more time to refocus their attention to the Buckeyes than vice versa.

Time will tell if that happens. To be able to choose which sport you'd like to support, I believe the minimum donation is $1000. Judging by the amount of fans typically at a match, I'd be surprised if there's much interest. As you mentioned, they need some volleyball specific gifts.

Hawks certainly could have folded after the 1st set. Looking at the kill stats, it's a reminder of the gap in talent they're facing in some of these matches. Serve & pass are part of the game as well however & they'll need to win that to give themselves a chance. With two on the road upcoming, OSU looks like an important one.

And no one has the setting (besides Nebraska and Indiana) to help out their poor 1st contact. So… stay disciplined there and any match really becomes a toss-up.

I am pretty sure baseball has a cooperative, under the umbrella of the swarm, where they are collecting smaller donations and combining them—when they reach the $1,000 mark they are then sending on to the swarm. That has the ability to work in volleyball as well.
