I hope the staff can keep the team together. I know we all thought the team had a chance to take another step this year, but looks like that will not happen. Some winnable matches the rest of the way. They play hard, just can’t win a few points when it really matters in a set it seems.

I feel like at this point Coach Barnes should try new things in the line up. I mean at this point what do they have to lose. I think this line up could be interesting:
OH1 - Buettner
MB1 - Davis
OPP/S- Deery or Urqhart/Ortega
OH2 - Morevac (Dennis or Cole if needed)
MB2 - Hansen or Vesty
S/OPP - Matteo/McSweeney
L - Darling
Or
OH1 - Buettner
MB1 - Davis
OPP/S- Caspers/Ortega
OH2 - Morevac (Darhling/Cole if needed)
MB2 - McSweeney
S/OPP - Matteo/Urqhart or Deery or Hansen
L - Dennis
I’m havnt been super impressed with Dennis as Libero but she’s probably the best choice at this moment. I just thought one of these line ups would try something different but also give a bigger presence at the net. Thoughts?

Her athleticism & blocking are much better than Bailey but her placement is poor & hasn't improved all season. Bailey probably doesn't even touch 9'10 so having her run a 5-1 is rough. DS/L - they all struggle in serve receive. Dennis is the best option. Middles - offensively no one can consistently set McSweeney, with the majority being much too low. Davis can hit the slide but isn't effective in front. Defensively Davis is better. They need more athleticism and quickness at this position. Moravec needs a DS but there doesn't seem to be one on the roster. She overpasses quite a bit but they've tried both Darling and Cole. Urquhart is going through a rough stretch. Barnes mentioned her not being healthy in a post match interview a few weeks ago & you can tell something is affecting her. Hanson has been in street clothes the past few weeks. Not sure what her situation is. Black & Deery are inconsistent and struggle OOS. From my perspective, this is a team that unfortunately just doesn't have enough talent in the backcourt or setter position to play winning volleyball. They are likely looking at 0-10 and who knows what the mindset of the team will be. |
