What would you like to see out of the Hawks in this matchup? Purdue is a good passing unit, but might(?) be missing a key player still. I don't remember their serving, but they do seem to be finding a block to make up the loss of Mohler. Hawks will need to find a terminator at the pins.

... I don't remember their serving ... Based on their play at Wisconsin last week, their serving is going to be tough and their passing quite good. The front line may still be under-strength due to illness (non-COVID) and recovery from injury. But you're going to be looking at a top-20 team on their side of the net.

Hello Hawk Fans,
pardon the intrusion, but had a question for you. I wanted your opinion on your new arena. I watched the match last week, tough to say without any people but looked shiny. I think the only thing I found a bit weird was the stands were set very far back from the court. Your arena is a combo multipurpose gym (volleyball and gymnastics?) and ice rink for a minor league hockey team correct? The reason I am interested is we are considering the same thing but everyone here hates it. Personally I would like a new arena, I think it would be a good recruiting tool plus Huff Hall is a bit of dump, decades worth of dust on the surfaces, stained ceiling tiles, obstructed views, no AC. Huff is a good location however especially for the students. I know coralville is not close to campus, how do you feel about the extra distance? Im ok with losing some fans if it gets us better recruits plus the extra distance isn't that bad.
I thought both teams looked very rusty but considering the personnel changes thats to be expected. Good luck with the rest of the season.

Iowa needs to figure out how to score points when Buzzerio is in the back row

The first match to be played in the new Xtream Arena will be next weekend against Indiana.

Well, tough weekend in West Lafayette. I didn't see Hansen on the sidelines so assuming she didn't make the trip. Hope all is ok with her.
Focusing on the positives, I will cite two First-Year players: - Black looked so much more at home on the left. Some really big swings from her and she puts up a big block as well. Ton of potential in her! - Really impressed with Lowry in the back row. Pretty consistent passing and some very athletic saves. Guess she's not the all-time Colorado high-school digs leader for nothing!
Still intrigued by Jones not seeing the court yet at all this season thus far. If she's healthy, would think at least mixing things up a bit when match is not going well to see what she might add could be something to explore. We've seen plenty of her talent these last two years. But, of course, we are not privy to all factors to be considered by Coach Brown...I sure get that.
Would love to see the Hawks start to hit their stride and play more consistently well this weekend against Indiana. We seem to get in a rut in about each set but still have some impressive moments...signs of a young team. Let's christen our new arena with a couple wins this weekend!
GO HAWKS!

Griere Hughes transferring to play at Virginia Tech in fall 2021, per Rich Kern. Interesting... Best to her.

That’s an interesting development..., Can’t see why Hughes wouldn’t want to play for Brown. I’m still disappointed about the three former starters leaving this program pretty dry, but at least we’ll get one of the Scholarships back... From the Daily Iowan today, two updates on injuries:
Amiya Jones - “Amiya was a key starter for the last two years, and we were just waiting to get the clear from the doctors to give her that opportunity,” Brown said. “With anyone coming in after being injured and then the first weekend is a Big Ten team on the road, there is going to be a slow start.”
Kyndra Hansen - Sophomore Kyndra Hansen missed her third and fourth matches of the season last weekend due to an undisclosed injury that she suffered before the season. Her availability for this weekend’s matchup against Rutgers is unclear.
Knew Hansen was battling injury but now understand why Jones has not been on the court until last weekend. Let's hope both are on the mend and available. Bummer that in a season with an already somewhat depleted roster, there are injuries that two key players are dealing with.
Let's get two Ws this weekend! GO HAWKS!

This is sweet although mention in the article of the celebratory upcoming parade in C. Buzz's honor would have been appropriate. :-) Congrats to the Buzzerios. So glad you decided on becoming Iowa Hawkeyes.
