State volleyball tournament is wrapping up. Bailey Boeve from Hinton is a 2026 that is getting attention. Will be interesting to see if she gives the Hawks any consideration.

She looked good today—had a great match. I enjoyed seeing her play today too. What position does she play in college? Is she a B1G type athlete? The arena was on fire today. So great Iowa HS kids get to play in there for a state title.

I have only seen her play on TV and a few videos. Obviously, she looks great against HS competition. I think it is hard to judge whether she is a B1G athlete right now. She is a class of 2026 athlete, so only a sophomore. If she continues to develop, gains strength and gets an inch or two more. I think it is a possibility.

I forgot to mention that she did make a top 150 list this summer for the class of 2026--she came in at 100.

Maybe they should look for some international talent to bolster the roster for the time being. Seems to be working for countless other programs and would give some time to attract higher level domestic talent. Name 5 foreigners on top teams. Foreigners that are really good stay in Europe or Brazil and play for $$.

Depends how athletic she is and how she adds muscle. She is only a sophomore. 6’2” and athletic is better than 6’ and athletic in the middle

I think Iowa needs to focus on being just decent first and international talent can certainly go a looong way towards that lol. But apparently since you want 5: Julia Orzol (Poland) - Wisconsin Anna Smrek (Canada) - Wisconsin Magda Jehlarova (Czech Republic) - Washington St Argentina Ung (Mexico) - Washington St Marta Levinska (Latvia) - Arizona St Do you want more? Melania Parra (Mexico) - TCU Aiko Jones (Jamaica) - Louisville Ipar Kurt (Turkey) - Stanford Bianca Bertolino (Argentina) - Georgia Tech Lots of international students want the dual volleyball experience + college degree the NCAA offer that many other countries don't. To pretend that Iowa, who needs all the help it can get, shouldn't look international is so short-sighted and crazy lmao.

From what I can see, this program is starting the build from rock bottom after all it’s been through for the last 5 years, heck the last 30 years. To have been competitive this year the one thing you could not have is injuries. If all starters stayed healthy they still needed to play their A game to have a chance. These starters or potential starters have been out or playing with injury. Urquhart, Buettner, Dennis, Black, Hansen, Casper, Worden, Lombardi, Lavin. Again with this roster it was going to need to go perfect but they have had much less than that. The lineup has had to change many times. Michigan State tonight on the road tonight. Not sure if the win a match with what they have.

Not sure if the win a match with what they have. The problem with that list is there aren't many Big Ten level players on it. Only being able to sell playing time with no success doesn't work. If this staff can't get significant portal help next year, we'll see similar results.
