If true, this Libero would be a big pickup for Iowa. I thought she held the Arizona passing together many times. Nice athlete too. I believe they'll also be getting instate help at this position as well. |

With Barnes only being at Iowa for 2 years, he has already had 7 players transfer out with a potential of adding 3 more to that list. He has an overall record of 18-45. What could we possibly do to turn this program around? I'm not concerned with the amount of transfers. With the portal, that's the new normal. Iowa has always been one of the least talented teams in the league. Until that improves, it's going to be much of the same. How do they do that & get kids that are choosing the teams in the middle of the conference to pick the Hawks? Bond was the closest but most everyone else has failed since the mid 90's. |

Transfers are happening everywhere. Especially at schools below .500.
Also, I’ll add Bond was 2-18 in his second season. Not coming off a situation where the program was under ncaa sanctions and major player issues that resulted in massive cuts. Probably the biggest mess in all of P5. Not only getting in the talent is key but getting out the prior staffs, less than talented players, is also part of the transition.
Looks like 3-4 players from the portal and the 4 incoming freshmen will be a big deal to get the talent up. I like the incoming class. Really like what I’ve read about the Libero from Arizona. Let’s see what happens with the rest of the portal.

Ortega won her third straight Big Ten Sportsman of the year. Something no Hawkeye has ever done. While the wins didn't come, Iowa won in having her promote the program by being a great role model on and off the court.

A coaching friend said Cole and Dennis both went into the portal but I cannot confirm? Any other Hawks? I would say you could trust your friends info about Cole and Dennis. Aside from the senior day participants with an extra year, I haven't heard of anyone else. Best guess on how the roster plays out: OH Michelle Urquhart OH Nataly Moravec OH Alyssa Worden OH Gabby Deery M Maddy Hanson M Rosa Vesty M Anna Davis S Kaia Mateo L/DS/OH Emily Lavin L Olivia Lombardi Davis has already graduated - her coming back probably depends on if Iowa has a field she's interested in for grad school. Lavin was enrolled to come to Iowa as a student and when Nia Washington left, she joined the team to provide depth...not sure if she'll be interested in continuing. Lombardi is a walk on like Lavin, she might enjoy being part of the team and want to come back. Interested to see what the freshman (Worden, Mateo, Deery & Vesty) do. They really need 5 solid players - 2 backrow, setter, middle, and pin. Urquhart, Moravec, Hanson, & Davis already transferred once, wouldn't they have to sit out a year if they did again? This is a good start, but I can see people on this list also leaving to the portal. Whether that be this winter or next spring. It will be interesting to see what they are left with after the new year. |

Let’s see what happens with the rest of the portal. I agree with this—from last year’s team Anabanjo and maybe Hinkle were the only players to go portal who could have really helped this team. This is from memory. I don’t remember any other significant losses. |

I don't know about that...I was going off of what is listed on the roster on hawkeyesports.com, which reflects what I assumed it would be, given she didn't play at all her 1st year at BYU. Wow very surprised to hear this about Moravic. She will have to sit a year and she would lose a year if she transferred. I don’t think anyone would do that. Has someone seen her name in portal?? I don't think so. Someone said they heard she was in. |
