"Iowa also was hit with minor recruiting reductions as part of the ruling" That is obviously the most concerning line. I'm hopeful the Athletic Department's attention to the "Do it the Right Way" mantra led to a thorough and complete investigation, with rulings from which we can move forward from.

I agree about that being a concerning line. Also, what exactly does the "one year probation" entail? Only the $5000 fine and the recruiting impact? Or is there more to that like not being eligible for NCAAs, for example?

If they commit further violations while on probation, penalties will be extra severe.

On the coach Bond Shymansky, the ruling was a two year "show cause" order. Do I understand correctly that under an order like this a coach can be hired, but the new school needs to make regular reports on his progress?

Here is the TWENTY-TWO page ruling: hawkeyesports.com/documents/2020/5/20/Iowa_Decision_Binder.pdfI believe the minor recruiting reductions can be found here: "A reduction of women’s volleyball evaluation days by 3.75% for a total of 77 days." That does seem pretty minor. Here is something I'd like to add... I don't think Iowa fans should look back at Shymansky with any sort of vitriol. I believe he had the right intentions with the program, and with his history at U of I, I fully believe he was in it for the long haul. I also don't believe the decision to commit this violation was based purely in the desire to get a step ahead of the competition. Obviously, Louis was an attractive transfer on the market, and whatever school landed her was going to be in great luck. But Bond also had years of relationship built with her, and I think the human element of "I want to help this girl out however I can" also factored into his poor decision-making. It was wrong. He paid the price, the program paid the price, and it is what it is. I continue to thank Bond for the vision he had for the program while he was here, and now we continue moving forward.

Your statement about the human element coming into his decision is why I have been so torn on this. Yes, an infraction was made, but enough to fire?

Well, this breaks the tie for 3rd place in the 2018 B1G dropping Nebraska to 4th in Conference!

The most disappointing is losing that 5-set W over Wisconsin
