The most disappointing is losing that 5-set W over Wisconsin I wasn't on the forum when it happened, but I did find the thread. Lots of people rooting for the Hawkeyes for the upset. What also sucks is the full match is no longer on Youtube. Edit: And Molly Kelly went off in the backcourt. I loved it.

Here is the TWENTY-TWO page ruling: hawkeyesports.com/documents/2020/5/20/Iowa_Decision_Binder.pdfI believe the minor recruiting reductions can be found here: "A reduction of women’s volleyball evaluation days by 3.75% for a total of 77 days." That does seem pretty minor. Here is something I'd like to add... I don't think Iowa fans should look back at Shymansky with any sort of vitriol. I believe he had the right intentions with the program, and with his history at U of I, I fully believe he was in it for the long haul. I also don't believe the decision to commit this violation was based purely in the desire to get a step ahead of the competition. Obviously, Louis was an attractive transfer on the market, and whatever school landed her was going to be in great luck. But Bond also had years of relationship built with her, and I think the human element of "I want to help this girl out however I can" also factored into his poor decision-making. It was wrong. He paid the price, the program paid the price, and it is what it is. I continue to thank Bond for the vision he had for the program while he was here, and now we continue moving forward. Your statement about the human element coming into his decision is why I have been so torn on this. Yes, an infraction was made, but enough to fire? You can't give money to a student athlete or prospective student athlete, period. Regardless of intent, it can be construed as a bribe. I loved what Bond was doing with the program but this was a big no-no, as shown by the fact that two years worth of victories are vacated. I was sorry to see him go, but I think the University of Iowa did the right thing. All that being said, I am glad that it was nothing too heinous and hopefully will allow Shymansky to find another position in the future.

heck, in the near future, that sort of thing might be able to be filed as "compensating them for their name/image/likeness use" or whatever it is called

I totally agree with you both. My 2 cents: He made a choice which he knew was against the rules. All coaches know or at least have the responsibility to know the rules. It was wrong! He benefited by getting a two time HM AA outside. Which in my opinion never materialized to her potential at Iowa and possibly cost them matches by over relying on her. She waited til she graduated, got everything out of the school, teammates, program and the Coach, then helped ruined his career. SMH I think it couldn’t have been Bonds first offense with the athletic department or it was a really safe gesture to the NCAA that Iowa is serious about the rules. Both are Equally at fault in my opinion, Bond has handled it with class and I wish him nothing but the best. This is a coach straight up handing envelopes of cash to a player. Some really interesting takes from the Bond fanboys here.

I’d say it was enough. I think if you’re going to lead an athletics program that promotes character and doing things the right way this is egregious enough for the punishment to fit the infraction. I’d much rather this than say UCI sweeping Speraw’s interactions under the rug. not to be confused with a different Speraw that was fired from the UCF MBB coaching job after infractions came to light, who was then quickly hired as an assistant coach for Iowa's MBB program.

For the longest while I've wondered how a particular poster could have such a hard on against Bond. Now I suspect it's because it's an impossibility. It's not like Iowa retained for years a coocoo verbally abusive coach. On Iowa.

Impressive statement here from Coach Vicki Brown and clearly an understandably emotional one. Thank you for so openly sharing your personal thoughts here and also speaking to how our student athletes can positively impact team dynamics and pursue success right now.
Proud to have you leading our program, Coach Brown! GO HAWKS!! /video/1

Starting line up predictions? I don't have a good guess with how many middle blockers are on the list.
I can only guess Buzzerio on right and Hughes and Hanson on the outside
