In the Marquette thread, it sounds like the Hawks will play a spring match against them at University of Dubuque. Just saw the Marquette spring schedule posted in the 2023 Spring Schedules thread. Looks like the poster in the Marquette thread cited the wrong team, as they are playing Iowa State on 4/15 in Dubuque...not the Hawks. Will be interesting to see what our spring schedule looks like. They normally play the Cyclones & then also go to UNI for a multi team tournament that has involved Kansas State, ND State, South Dakota, etc. I would think Illinois St or Bradley could be in the picture as well. |

Oh man I was hoping to be in Dubuque for that! Well, I guess I could still see State play. I haven’t seen any info yet on spring dates for Iowa. Big hole graduating Jones. Can’t wait to see what players emerge and how the setting comes together. Good exp with Ortega and great athleticism in Mateo, but not sure what it looks like. There was a huge improvement last season in unified team spirit, fight and toughness. They will need it and more to build on next season. Look forward to learning more about these Hawks this spring in the scrimmages. |

Iowa will miss this one in the middle. Fun to watch how much she got set this year. But I actually think Toyosi will end up being better there.

Interested to see where the coaches go this weekend. I believe this is the 1st weekend D1 coaches can go to club tournaments. I would guess two will go to KC and one to St Louis. The amount of talent at the NIT is impressive.

Looks like they are playing all tournaments. Probably want to get as many matches as possible to work out the new players and positions. Purdue is playing all single matches each time. Returning most of their lineup.

The TVA tournament is interesting. Looking at their website, Creighton, K State, and Omaha were in it last year. The Hawks are looking at multiple recruits from Nebraska for 25.

Thinking rationally, what Big Ten level player is the Iowa assistant going to find in Hawaii and pull away from the Hawaii fan base? Serious question.

Well, Iowa’s starting setter around 7 years ago was from Hawaii. Maybe they have a connection and a good advocate. I’ve seen some really good players on P5 teams who wanted off the island or a better academic school. |
