Turkey getting a clear lead now 19-14, can they maintain that to close out set 3?

Turkey is playing really poorly. Croatia just doesn't have enough consistency to stay with them. I don't know if Turkey is feeling the pressure of qualifying for the Olympics or the adjustments made by Giudetti just has not been effective or is Guidetti's bad-mouthing of other teams (particularly Germany and Netherlands) in an attempt to psyche them out backfired by making them even more motivated to beat Turkey, which is more likely...

You actually think Turkey's playing poorly because opponents feel disrespected by the coach? I think it's more likely that Turkey's block/defense is a mess right now (getting away with it today because Croatia's setter is trapping her hitters and they have some ball control gaps - Croatia's hitters are killing every good look they get - just getting too many bad looks). That's a problem because they don't really have an elite set of attackers. Eda is, of course, and Ebrar has good days (and BAD days), but everyone else on court is a below-average attacker for their position compared to the teams Turkey normally gets compared to - though they should on the whole be a few levels above Croatia. They do serve very well, and Croatia is messy....I don't know what Belgium looks like right now but they may be more of a threat.

Prayer circle for Herbotts to carry Belgium past Croatia and send Turkey packing.

Hanna Orthmann is in such incredible form recently. 14 kills through two sets on 0.500 efficiency. Not sure how Plummer's going to crack that Monza line-up, though the other OH, Floortje Mejners, did get benched for the Dutch yesterday. Weird roster choices, they have lots of banger outsides that can't pass.
Germany looks strong, up two sets to none. Hanke putting her hitters in good spots. IF they could get some more production out of the middle and clean up tip coverage, I could see them being a top ten team in the coming years.

Personally, I would like to see KP develop at the OH position, but I think she will most likely play as the backup of Ortolani in dub-subs.

Ok. I’ve been watching all of the matches late and have avoided posting until now.
I’m not sure what bug Turkey have caught but I change my stance on how they look....all aboard the struggle bus. I feel for Fabris....a rare bird amongst the pigeons. That Croatian setter is terrible.
At this point I think Belgium is likely a threat to Turkey after seeing them really push Germany today.
Speaking of Belgium......Britt Herbots is 🔥. The thing with Belgium is that their passing is so bad that they seldom ever run the middles and their pins are wizards OOS because they HAVE to be. Their setter isn’t elite and that too is a problem. She should be running the middle every time the pass is good.
Germany lookin good y’all. They should have no problems with Croatia and will go top of the pool and will face Netherlands/Poland loser.
From what I’ve seen of Poland they look the same with nothing new in this tournament.
The Dutch however have found a boon in Floortje Meijners.
Caprara is onto something having Meijners start as OPP and having her pass in a few rotations so Buijs doesn’t have to. Daalderop passes in every rotation except when Balkestein comes in just in the back row.
Any decent team will serve Meijners or Buijs, whoever is in the passing unit but with a Daalderop/Meijners/Buijs pin trio....their OOS hitting/blocking height is insane. Granted the only data I have to go off of is today’s match VS. Bulgaria. We’ll see if this plan holds up against Poland and other Elite teams.
Sloëtjes is toast. She has lost her mojo and might be facing retirement soon as she will likely be bumped to an inferior pro league.
DeKruijf looking good on defense but Djikema won’t set her a ton on a good pass and she is getting frustrated.
The Dutch look like they finally got a breath of life and just in time too.

Apparently all the AVC matches (Men's and Women's) are live on Volleyball TV's channel on YouTube. Subscribe and enjoy! Really? I couldn’t see the Women’s. NORCECA will be streamed on InternetTV The live-streams are available. Maybe I can see them because I use a VPN? On the schedule it showed both the men’s and the women’s matches.

Argentina and Colombia both won tonight, some pretty convincing sweeps over Venezuela(Argentina) and Peru(Colombia) Speaking of Peru, they are a team with a notable history. Not many people outside Peru knows this, but there was a time when Peru was the volleyball powerhouse in South America, at least for indoor women volleyball. They claimed the silver at the World Championships in 1982 and also the silver at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. But with the rise of Brazil in the 90's, the lack of new talent to their NTs and inadequate funding, the program fell on hard times and they have yet to recover anywhere close to their glory days.

Good news everyone! We shouldn't have to worry about the notorious rain delays in the NORCECA Qualifier because the forecast looks pretty clear for this weekend.
