Eric Zaun and Kyle Pottieger should both have a spot on these teams, IMO

TheReignman.....I totally agree with Zaun and Pottieger.....added them to 3rd team. Zaun could very well be a 2nd teamer but both Nugent and Jones were NJ State POY!

Revised list- Include 3 OHs on First and Second Team. Looking at the numbers for Maxwell and both Nugents are eerily similar: Senior years..... Maxwell 559 kills, 185 digs and 56 aces in 42 matches. NJ State POY in 2016, 3 State Championships, 2 time First Team All-State (2015 and 2016). Dan Nugent 569 kills,129 digs and 62 aces in 38 matches. NJ State POY in 2011, One State Title, First Team All State in 2011, 2nd team in 2010. Chris Nugent 507 kills, 197 digs and 57 aces in 41 matches. NJ State POY as a Junior (2012), 2 State Titles, 2 Time First Team All-State (2012 and 2013).

Ahjon Petty was probably the more renowned big hitter of the Piscataway HS teams this past decade, which says a lot considering how good that 2013 NJ graduating class was, and how good Langston Payne was.
Matt Kelly was still an athlete who has made it further than anyone else from NJ in the USAV HP system, unheard of especially from a ball-control position.

Petty and Payne were both great players.....Payne was 1st Team All-State in 2014......while Petty was 2nd team All-State in 2013.
Matt Kelly was phenomenal.....very hard to keep him off First team! Zyndorf was the best high school libero I ever saw and Matt Maxwell's body of work is tough to beat.....recognized All-State 4 years!! 3rd team as a freshman, 2nd team as a sophomore and 1st team as a junior and senior!

No way you can make this list without Zaun at the top. He averaged over 20 kills a match, and made a very irrelevant Cherry Hill East team one of the best in the state. He was much better than Jeff Jones and Dan Nugent, he just had a worse team around him. Some people I think should be mentioned are Mike Bagwell, and Phil Bueno. Also Tim Erdman should be on the first team, I played against Erdman and Oryn during my high school career. Both great, but Erdman was a little better.

All great points Carthagedog.......I could easily add Zaun to 2nd team......Team accomplishments are a huge factor in my opinion in compiling this list. Jones and Nugent both played on state championship teams and were both NJ POY! I am not sure about the 20 kills per match.....but I saw him play a number of times....a truly great high school player! As for Mike Bagwell and Phil Bueno....also two super high school players....there will always be a few players that are overlooked. Added both to my Honorable mention. As for Tim Erdman....outstanding player.....but in my personal opinion Oryn was the best libero I ever saw in NJ high school....also a state champion( as was Matt Maxwell-twice). Erdman was in the "mix" for sure!!
