2021 roster posted. No May and Monk-Heidrich. So strange that May is not on there. Monk-Heidrich is such a hard worker and didn't get much of a chance, but the recruiter person said her scholarship was performance based which seems strange. Wish she was still on the team, she is a fighter. Also, I saw the players are getting together and practicing. Does anyone have word on what is going on at UCLA in terms of COVID restrictions and when they can start practicing? Wondering if the seasons for spring sports will all be moved forward to accommodate the fall sports being so late. Just read today that the fall sports will have another year of eligibility, does anyone know about this?

Only four signees this year. Sophie Moore, Jessica Smith, Bonnie Davis, and Natalie Myszkowski. Really surprised that Katie Hashman didn't sign. I would have easily rated her as 2nd behind Smith.

Monk-Heidrich I suppose could've opted out due to COVID?

Aren't scheduled matches usually out by now? Yes but with COVID the conference is still determining if competition will be conference only and which schools will be allowed to host tournaments. (I believe stanford U is applying for a waiver from the state to allow athletics)

Their football team and basketball team is currently competing.

Their football team and basketball team is currently competing. Football had relocated to Corvallis, and their basketball teams were practicing and playing in North Carolina (men’s) and Las Vegas (women’s). San Jose States basketball programs just moved their entire operation to Phoenix in order to be able to keep practicing and playing. Not sure if the same will happen with beach, but it could get wild out there with some of these contingency plans.

The basketball team is able to play once again at Maples Pavillion. Besides the game they lost to USC there on Feb 2, the Cardinal will play the Bears today at Maples.

Does anyone know if UCLA will allow spectators on the large field next to the courts? It seems like LA is opening up quite a bit and they have a tremendous amount of space at the Sunset Rec Center.

Any guesses on who's going to play in flights 1/2/3/4/5? UCLA is definitely deep in talent. I'd say Simo and Van Winkle on the 1's, the rest is up for grabs!

The Van Winkle younger sister is very good and she did well with Brennan who is small but wins. They have the strong team of Lexi and Riley, might he put them together? Agree with Simo and VanWinkle at 1, they proved themselves last year. He also has Witmarsh who has not seen play time. Newberry was up and down last year.

Interesting lineups to start the season:
1) Simo/Denaburg 2) Sparks/Newberry 3) Muret/Quade 4) Powers/Whitmarsh 5) Monkhouse/Walters Exh) Sanchez/Phair
None of the Van Winkle sisters in the lineup or Peri Brennan.

Agree, very interesting. Where were the Van Winkle and Brennan? Maybe a Covid testing issue. The Covid testing could be very disruptive as it has been with other sports. Hoping that these three girls can get back on the court soon. Surprised to see Newberry at 2 and Monkhouse at 5? Nice that some fo these girls are able to be in the lineup but they may need VanWinkle girls and Brennan in as soon as they can get them.
