The fact that Tyler continued to have contact with NE over the last couple of years and how much they seem to enjoy their short time in NE speaks volumes. NE is also one of the "it" jobs in WVB.

Hildebrand will never be the head coach at Nebraska................USC will come calling. Read his statements about he and his wife loving Lincoln and Nebraska. Lincoln is a great place to raise kids, reasonable cost of living, thus financially attractive. LA not so much. Also opportunity for nat championship just as much, if not more than USC. If USC offers HC, Tyler has leverage to barter with NE. Could happen, Tyler returns to CA, but lots of reason it wont. IMHO. Edit: assuming good chemistry with NE admin and JC, and that seems likely.

OK. So, in summation of this thread, Hildebrand is the head coach in waiting for when Cook retires. Or, he isn't. Cook is going to retire after this year. Or, he will coach beyond this year.
Glad we have cleared that up. Carry on.

Hell, just name Hildebrand the next coach at Ohio State, USC, Nebraska, and Team Canada. He has a grand total of 11 months of experience coaching women, right?

Agree with you there, unless USC is willing to offer a salary that allows a HC to purchase a home west of the 405 fwy, somewhere south of Mulholland and north of the 105. And that, unless it's a dual salary family, would be north of $250k. Anybody know what Crouch is **edit** WAS making?

Tyler Hildebrand next USC coach Tough to give a currently open head coaching job to someone wanting to start 8 months from now after Toyko.
