I think what you're seeing is the P5 wants football and they're gonna get football and everything else could be collateral damage. 10 matches and those pods are hard to believe. PAC12 claims athletes can opt out for health concerns without losing their scholarship. I heard that is not the case in the SEC. Any word on the others? It seems silly to burn a season of eligibility for 10 games under these conditions. Eligibility is a huge concern right now. There are coaches talking about holding out their star players to start the year - so they can get an idea of the viability of this season - unless there's a provision from the NCAA regarding cancellation (which I think there should be btw).

How does a leave of absence effect eligibility? Not a gap year a leave of absence i.e. a year between you sophomore and junior year or junior senior?

Eligibility is a huge issue. And the pods are terrible. The north pod is fairly strong, but then the middle pod I could see a team not being challenged and almost winning out.
Gahhh and there are some teams that lack depth so they have to play their "stars" to have 6 players on the court.

Louisville coach is actually threatening expulsion for a student athlete going to an off-campus party. Things are getting ridiculously out of hand. www.kentucky.com/sports/college/acc/university-of-louisville/article244743252.htmlWhen asked if the school might consider punishing players in the future for disobeying coronavirus-related safety protocols, such as restrictions of mass gatherings, Tyra replied, “I think the answer is ‘yes.’ “There’s code-of-conduct issues related to their teams and how their coaches handle them ... There’s certainly university code-of-conduct issues that we would reiterate to them. But if you’ve got repeat offenders who continue to ignore any team policies, we’ve always had the option of discipline, up to dismissal.”

Unfortunately, there are always going to be the group of people who continue to ruin it for everyone and cause more casee

The football team followed the rules. Gotta love it! Lol Their coaches are NOT willing to sacrifice their season for nonsense.

Had this happened closer to season start And if I’m a team in the North pool, I want no parts of playing them. I just don’t see how this is going to work. And if some of the volleyball players did actually get impacted which seems to be the case, I wonder how many and what does this do to having a substantive practice for prep before the season opens.

Why does vball (Olympic sports) have to be the sacrificial lamb thrown at the altar of football. The way the regions are aligned, the pods, just show you that vball is being thrown to the wolves with the least amount of effort and funding so that Football can play. The coaches want spring, the athletes don’t want to lose a year if Elegibility for 10 sub par matches, so fix this with a reasonable schedule or move to spring where they at least MAY have a chance at a semi normal season. Let football do it’s thing, we all know that is where the $$ at so let’s not pretend they are going for any other reason and stop holding vball hostage so that it looks equitable. We are in a pandemic, nothing is fair or equal so let’s stop pretending. Rant over

ACC Schedule Released theacc.com/news/2020/9/4/general-acc-announces-fall-olympic-sports-schedules.aspxMy Picks for Pods in order of finish: North Pod: Louisville, Notre Dame, Pitt, BC, Syracuse (UL brings lots of experience, ND a top recruiting class w a veteran core) Central Pod: UNC, NCSU, Duke, UVA, Va Tech (UNC most talented roster, not as balanced comp) South Pod: Ga Tech, FSU, Miami, Clemson, WF (GA Tech returns everyone but Comby, FSU loses too much in Caffrey)

I've said it before but these pods are incredibly unbalanced. I know it's geographic but good lord I fully agree and I hate it. The North is like playing in the daggum Big 10 Every night while the central is very low key. Again, its all about football.

And, I wish the B1G and PAC had the same thing

Is the mission for everyone to get out of these exhibition matches with their health intact?
