Is the mission for everyone to get out of these exhibition matches with their health intact? Herd immunity

ACC Schedule Released theacc.com/news/2020/9/4/general-acc-announces-fall-olympic-sports-schedules.aspxMy Picks for Pods in order of finish: North Pod: Louisville, Notre Dame, Pitt, BC, Syracuse (UL brings lots of experience, ND a top recruiting class w a veteran core) Central Pod: UNC, NCSU, Duke, UVA, Va Tech (UNC most talented roster, not as balanced comp) South Pod: Ga Tech, FSU, Miami, Clemson, WF (GA Tech returns everyone but Comby, FSU loses too much in Caffrey) I still don’t understand how Wake Forest is not in the central pod.

It's the closer of the NC schools to Clemson is my guess?

There are 5 teams in the central pod - Duke, UNC, NC State, Virginia, Virginia Tech. One of the North Carolina schools was going to be the odd one out and have to play with the southern pod.

Funny thing about the Central/Southern Pod: the best way to get a bus from VT to Duke/NCST/UNC goes right past Wake Forest University (like within 2 miles).

That does suck for them, but it looks like they managed to schedule an additional match with Duke prior to pod play. I'm not sure what the scheduling limitations are, but it would have been nice if they could have had matches with UNC and State as well.

What a joke this poll is....
Louisville brings back everyone but Stivrins and brings in good recruits.
Pitt loses a solid middle, a libero that was good, a 6 rotation OH that started for 4 years.
FSU loses their kills leader and libero. No way they finish that high.
Syracuse has potential but again, loses pin production.
ND brings in a solid class and Ga Tech are both looking good.
UNC loses Harrison, but brings back a strong core with better setting and brings in more offense. No way they finish 7th.
Again, my prediction is UL wins the North Pod, UNC wins the Central Pod, and GA Tech wins the South Pod.
If we were in regular season I would say:
Louisville Georgia Tech Notre Dame Pitt UNC Syracuse FSU Boston College Syracuse Miami Duke NCSU Clemson UVA Virginia Tech Wake

3 of the top 4 are from one pod, and all 5 from that pod are in the top 8. Nice balance. It is entirely plausible that the #6 or the #8 team in the league could go 0-8 and 2-6, or they could each go 1-7.

Exactly, this again highlights their bias and how the pods are a terrible idea. You do not see the Big 12 doing pods or SEC unless I am misunderstanding.

You are completely misunderstanding why the pods exist. They acknowledge there was no attempt at competitive balance. The reality is that the Big 12 and SEC can afford to charter flights while the ACC can’t. So they wanted to play matches and they wanted to do it in a way that minimizes flights. Hence, geographic pods.

These coaches really have good heads on their shoulders. No bias here

I admit I would not want to be in charge of making these decisions. And playing is good at this point. But the pods are just...bleh...

Did the coaches forget that the pods are a thing, or did they vote under the assumption that eventually everyone one would play one another if the season were to be extended into the spring? Never mind, I know the answer to that one.
If they wanted to have a poll so badly they should've just predicted the order of finish in each pod.

I admit I would not want to be in charge of making these decisions. And playing is good at this point. But the pods are just...bleh... Remember that these are just the first 8 of what could still be an 18 match season. If the Spring season happens, then this will all come out in the wash. If the Spring season doesn't happen, then it really doesn't matter and at least there were a few matches. Presumably the North would still be at a big disadvantage because of the 4 teams they play twice. The Spring schedule would figure to be one match each against the 2 other pods to get to the usual 18. That means BC and Syracuse could each go into Spring as poorly as 1-7, and both still end the Spring between 11-7 and 9-9. That is literally their exact conference records last year; 11-7 and 9-9. I wonder if they would be kind enough to make GT, UNC and FSU play all road matches against the north to even things up a bit.
