The Illinois series this upcoming weekend is crucial if they want to give themselves a legit shot to make the 48 team tournament as an at-large this year. Illinois, Michigan, and Purdue are the 3 series it feels they must make some headway in and win some matches. Obviously they need to hold serve against Rutgers and Indiana as well. No expectations for any wins against PSU/MN/Neb imo. Completely agree. I think realistically they need to win at least 1 of the 3 matches this week for a chance at the tournament, because from what I think Illinois is a better matchup for OSU than Purdue or Michigan. The Penn State match on Wednesday is probably the best chance to beat one of the top tier teams since they just went 5 @ Minnesota and have to travel and play twice in a short time. Well, they won 1 of 3 this week already! And it certainly wasn't the one we remotely expected to happen. This win is absolutely huge for their tournament hopes! If they can split with Illinois they'll be in great position... and I think that could even be considered a conservative outlook for this weekend's series given what PSU did to Illinois (minus Blossom and Hampton). |

What a great win. Hopefully Moore is not hurt too bad. She was standing and walking (slowly) on her own at the end of the match, but she also wasn't jumping. That would be a big loss for this weekend if she couldn't go.
I am not sure how they looked so bad in the first 2 sets, especially the second, and then came back to win the match. I did like the change to shift Londot to hitting on the left side when she was front right and Bukilic was front right because it allowed Murr to pass from the middle of serve receive and get their best hitter more swings when out of system after receive. They struggled with this rotation for the first two sets and didn't really in the 3rd and 4th. They started in this rotation in the 5th like they 1st and 2nd and gave up the 2-0 lead and switched to Londot on the left and immediately sided out.
I still don't know what to expect from them going forward except excitement and inconsistency. Should stay fun.

I apparently set my expectations too low. I feel like 6 more wins would get them safely in the tournament. That would be a record of 15-7, assuming no cancellations. With series against Rutgers, Indiana, Michigan and Purdue this feels very achievable. |

If the poll was merit focused instead of based on pre-conceived opinions heading into the season, Ohio State would be a decent bit higher than 19th. It’s not right... i’ve said my piece and i’ll leave it there. |

That would mean something if so many teams in that conference wernt cancelled. 90% of conference was cancelled. Of course they will win when they are only team playing😂 |

Yes Am I still going to find a way to lord the fact that the Buckeyes swept the weekly awards over someone in a rather snarky way? Yes |

Psu was up 2-0 before they blew next three sets. I still have no idea what to make of psu. They lost to minny in 5 and 4 and some of those sets they lost went extra points so they haven’t got worked by anyone. Someone had asked how I felt about psu and I said vulnerable but overall have no idea what to feel. We will see tommorrow if Ohio state can do it again or if the universe goes back to normal. Lol |
