It's been coming. As I've said all along, it's more of a financial issue than a health one. The conference doesn't have the resources to follow the necessary protocols.

Damn. Disappointing, but not surprising. The BW volleyball season was something I was looking forward to, to help relieve the boredom of Covid isolation. I hope the men's season is still on.

I feel so bad for the players. They've been training all fall and winter for a chance to compete. Hope the fall season happens.

Could this lead to more transfers ? It could, but if they transfer expecting to play in the spring they are likely going to be disappointed. BW is just the tipping point, others will be following.

I suspect more non-Power 5 conferences will be forced to make this decision. The financials are just not there and with the basketball season stumbling out of the gate, the money is going to get thinner and thinner for the budgets that are already stretched beyond repair.

These are the conferences we have not heard Spring Plans for: PAC-12 and B1G (unofficially) will play full 11-week 22 match schedules conference-only. SEC ACC American (AAC) Big East Missouri Valley Atlantic 10 America East Horizon MAAC MEAC Northeast Ohio Valley Patriot From that list, America East, MAAC, MEAC, Northeast, and Patriot are all the most-likely to cancel I would guess.

The good news for those conferences that you listed is I think they are entirely driveable. Many of the matches can even be a day trip with no hotel. How frequently is the state of California requiring their teams to test?

Could this lead to more transfers ? The B1G lost several players (and recruits) when it cancelled/postponed the football season, due to athletes wanting to play somewhere "that took the sport seriously". So I could see a handful--but at the same time, most players who agreed to play for a Big West school knew what they were getting into anyway. This year there is going to be a crazy transfer free for all anyway, so the chances of you picking up a good transfer are about the same (or better) of you losing one.

Not the biggest issue in this conference, but could we see some players just opt to go pro too? Someone like Jolie Rasmussen who’s already a redshirt. I also think of Maia Dvoracek as one that could opt to go pro. Only two that come to mind from the big west

How frequently is the state of California requiring their teams to test? The Big West has to be one of the most drivable conferences (with the notable exception of Hawaii), but they were second out after Ivy (unless I missed somebody).
