* more valuable than a player who can hit only the slide. And there really aren't many middles who are good at both. Team USA has had Foluke and Scott-Arruda..and that's about it. You'd also clearly put this player at M2, but even then for one rotation with a D ball you can easily spread the court. I also don't think the helping-the-OH explanation holds up for the slide, depending on how the other team is defending it and what their blocking scheme is giving. However, with an effective quick attacker you ALWAYS get the opposing middle committed in the air, which helps everyone else out. What interest would Rettke garner assuming she is available to pro leagues after the NCAA season wraps up in December? Having already made her international debut with team USA last summer....I would imagine that, paired with her height and ability....would get her some pretty sweet offers.

It wouldn’t surprise me if at this point Rettke already has some unwritten agreement with a club be it at the start of this season or at the middle.

I miss Lo Bianco to Gioli. Karin Salinas to Victoria Ravva. Anyone to Paula Weishoff.

If Washington was set in front of the setter, it was the "front slide" she'd do. Idk if there's a more technical name for it, but its one of her more signature hits.

How often does rettke really hit in front of the setter? Everytime I watch Wisconsin it seems like only slides. (Which she is very good at lol)

So many European leagues must be starting early, Shelly Stafford’s Instagram account stated she’ll be leaving for Poland in 2 weeks!

It’s such a shame, I remember her in college getting so much praise and seemingly had a very bright professional career... seems like way too many wrong moves.

So many European leagues must be starting early, Shelly Stafford’s Instagram account stated she’ll be leaving for Poland in 2 weeks! With most European leagues having at least 12 teams that is 22 weeks of regular competition. Or in the case of the Turkish League this season there are 16 teams and 30 weeks of regular competition. That is NOT counting play offs and all of the European Cups. Since the FIVB stated that the last possible day for professional ball to be end of April they all have to start at least 1-2 months earlier or maybe more so the league can have a break in the middle. With leagues traditionally starting in October that now moves the starting dates up to September or August which makes sense for athletes to report in July for training.

Stafford was one of the best in the country at hitting 1 balls. (Or quicks whatever you call them) she could also hit sort of out of system high balls in the middle and set haha
