I don’t think she can hit out of the back row? But yea she does have a hammer. She can learn. But the Canadian NT's growth has been fun to watch with Alexa Gray and Autumn Bailey, but they need an OPP. Shainah Joseph is a joke at this point, had an amazing Senior year at Florida and just did nothing. I feel she was on to something but these Thailand/Phillipine leagues does you %*$#, so i hope Gorell will go give them some pin depth Even Joseph's senior year is over-rated. She didn't even crack the CNT lineup at some lower level tournaments. I'm not sure Gorell's future is on the pin, but it would be exciting to see her transition there. She's a really good blocked

Samantha Seliger-Swenson is officially announced at E. Leclerc Radomka Radom in Poland. Fellow american Janisa Johnson is also on the roster as well as Bruna Honorio of Itambé Minas! Looks like the team is arming up! They had a pretty poor season last year. The only Polish NT name I recognize is libero Agata Witkowska. They also have a new Italian coach Riccardo Marchesi. I'll wager they have a much better season this year.

I think that the top four of the German, French and Polish league are about at the same competitive level and firmly in Europe's second tier. There are typically at least 2 teams from these three leagues in the Champions League. Last season the French teams did very well. Stuttgart was the only German team and they made the quarterfinals for the second year in a row. The Polish teams however didn't do that well. A lot of their big names are playing in other leagues this season.

Nothin that I know of. I'm not sure if they are going to use the same teams from last season or if they are going to go off of the standings from each league where they ended pre-covid. Radomka Radom won't be in any of the CEV competitions. They placed 10th in the Polish League.

Van Ryk can't pass as well, but she's a much better OPP than Joseph. Chase, the best passer after Niles, can't terminate the ball. If Tom Black can try a Chase-Niles two-man receiving formation ala Serbia, then it may elevate the Canadian NT even further? Kinda sucks because Maglio and Cross have been Canadian NT's best players for me.

Olivia Kofie from Sternberk School to Olomouc (CZE) (and this team is so far her best in her career in Europe) Jessica Wagner from Schaffhausen in Switzerland goes back once more in Spain in CV Haris (now aka La Laguna)

Well when you can't pass, better be able to terminate, which I believe the G-B duo can, but we need another woman on court to toss it up to (OPP).

I agree that when it comes to spiking efficiency alone, Gray-Bailey is their best OH duo.
Unfortunately, only Niles and Chase have receiving efficiencies above 20% in the limited stats I have on the Canadian NT.
Passing becomes more important as the level of volleyball becomes higher, and Black should solve the passing issue head-on and not put in a terminator to try masking it. Even Egonu and Boskovic need players like Bosetti and Busa for their respective offensive systems to work.

Question: I don’t follow much Pro Volleyball (maybe I’ll start getting into it), but why is KP assumed to be playing OPP at pro/Olympic level? She played outside in college. Thanks!

She played both roles on her Italian club team this past season, so it’s unclear whether she plays OPP or OH. I think it’s just assumed that in Japan they would more likely put her at OPP, but we’ll see.

It is much more important for outsides to be elite serve receivers in the international game than in the NCAA. Serves are much tougher, and subs are limited so you can't use a defensive specialist on a regular basis. Plummer is an ok passer, but a great attacker.

The Japanese Volleyball League regular season will begin on October 17 and will end February 14 with the Semifinals/Finals played on February 20 and 21.
