Does anyone know if horses can get sick with the coronoavirus? Or be a carrier? Asking for a friend?

Hmmmm.... "Coronavirus: Tokyo Olympic Games plans 'irresponsible', says IOC member": www.bbc.com/sport/olympics/51935586International Olympic Committee member Hayley Wickenheiser says that plans for the Tokyo Games to go ahead are "insensitive and irresponsible". On Tuesday, Japan's Olympic minister said the nation is still planning for a "complete" staging of the Games, despite the coronavirus pandemic. "This crisis is bigger than even the Olympics," said Wickenheiser. "We don't know what's happening in the next 24 hours, let alone the next three months." Wickenheiser was part of the Canada team that won four successive ice hockey golds at the Winter Olympics. Writing on Twitter, she added: "From an athlete perspective, I can only imagine and try to empathise with the anxiety and heartbreak athletes are feeling right now. "Athletes can't train, attendees can't travel plan. Sponsors and marketers can't market with any degree of sensitivity. "I think the IOC insisting this will move ahead, with such conviction, is insensitive and irresponsible given the state of humanity."

Thereās now talk coming from the White House about an economic stimulus plan where $$$ will be given to American adults. A figure tossed around was $1,000. Iām not sure if this is for everyone or certain adults (e.g., job affected by Covid19) or what the criteria is. I doubt Iāll qualify unless itās a blanket āevery adultā but if I do, I know what Iāll be spending that money on. LOL!

I feel like this is a setup for a joke, but if you're serious, it doesn't seem like there's any evidence of animals acting as a reservoir... at least not right now. I can't say specifically about horses, but a podcast (and I've listened to about 20 right now, so I can't remember the exact one) was discussing dogs and people worried about them being carriers, and they said unlikely.
So, obviously do your own further research, but personally I wouldn't be too worried (and I'm very worried about this, in general) about a pet being a reservoir.

Man, if they determine that dogs are super-carriers and the officials start to take all dogs away, Iām hiding mine in the attic like that Anne Frank girl.

Wolfgang, misinformation in China led people to believe their dogs could be carriers. Out of desperation, many who were quarantined threw their dogs off their balconies. Police were bludgeoning animals to death in the streets. I have seen videos that made my stomach turn. I don't think I will ever got those images out of my mind.

I tend to show more kindness to animals than humans. And we all know that humans are the REAL animals.

Wolfgang. Me either. NO WAY could I hurt or abandon my dog. EVER.
Animal abandonment has been a huge problem during this crisis in China. Some people intentionally left pets behind, but many people who were forced into quarantine had to leave their pets. I've seen videos of neighbors trying to feed them using poles and buckets extending to those balconies. Even in the midst of great darkness, there is much good in people.
I try to focus on that.
