There’s no evidence that the Tokyo Olympics would be pushed a year. The Japanese head said their contract with the IOC stipulates the games happening in the 2020 calendar year. Despite criticism, he just said the games will go on as planned. Even still, there’s a good chance that the games would be pushed 1-2 months. Much uncertainty obviously, but the logistics of pushing the games a full year are nearly impossible. I’d put the scenarios in this order right now. While the global situation is getting worse, we are still not fully convinced about how full summer heat will affect virus survivability. While Southern Hemisphere countries are now getting transmission, it’s no longer full summer there. 1) Games go on as planned 2) Games are postponed one month 3) Games are postponed 2-3 months 4) Games are cancelled 5) Games are postponed 1 full year If we still have a 2021 collegiate beach volleyball season, Tina Graudina should be back on campus completing her degree. I live in East Africa. The weather there has been plenty hot all month and is roughly as warm now as the hottest times in Japan. Also much hotter than it ever got consistently when I lived in Socal and the virus seems to be doing just fine here. (and the cases manifesting are somewhat mature which means they happened a couple weeks ago at least, and that was in Summer by any definition you want to give) Also the idea that it hasnt been in most of Africa for a while now is largely a function of lack of testing and borderline intentional ignorance. In most countries close to me DRC, Tanzania, lots of Kenya, Rwanda there is no real medical infrastructure of any quality. In other parts of Africa its much worse. South Sudan's largest airport lounge was some chairs in a dirt field a couple years ago - and probably still is - thats the luxury lounge mind you. I had a friend who went to the hospital 2 days after the first case was identified where we live with severe flu symptoms and he was basically told, we cant test for anything so go home. At the airport when I flew home, the day before the first case was announced, there were no visible precautions in place Its no coincidence that the African countries that have the most cases - MENA countries, Kenya, SA - tend to have better infrastructure - and in most of those that good infrastructure is limited to regions But even assuming extremely hot weather would somehow stop the virus, the way the world works - what with hemispheres and all - is every type of weather except extreme cold is usually happening in some heavily populated country at any given time.

Also the Olympics will be held to a large degree in packed, air conditioned buildings, from which fans and athletes will go to other crowded air conditioned buildings (hotels, bars, dorms etc). Hard to see weather really shutting that down

Agree, interesting if Graudina doesn't return. Bakos will play, she is the get for that recruiting class. Great court vision and very athletic. I pick Nourse twins over the Kraf/Maple all day long. Those two won this whole season against tough teams. They also made a bunch of main draws when there was a ton of competition last year in the FIVB, beating very tough teams and made it through two or three qualifiers to get in the AVP main draws. Will the power houses from LSU return? The Nourses are a good pair - but you've really exaggerated their FIVB/AVP results. They played a handful of One Stars against mostly lower level teams, played OK, but never came close to a podium finish. Made two AVP main draws, didn't beat anyone of note, and were crushed in their lone head-to-head match with Kraft/Maple (who were, and still are, beating legit main draw teams). But I do think that - after a couple of early losses - the Nourses were settling in nicely at USC in the #3 spot. As for who is better, there will be some battles in practice next Fall for sure. IMO, Kraft/Maple win 7 times out of 10 against the Nourses, the difference being Kraft's play at the net. Either way, figuring out where the respective pairs slot (if Blanton keeps them all intact, of course) will be a good problem to have. Haven't heard a peep about Nuss/Coppola one way or another yet. Completely disagree. I have seen them play personally and the Nourse twins beat them out hands down. Also, twins played olympians, etc in the FIVB and beat big name teams. No exaggeration at all on their play! Nourses have beat big name teams both in AVP and FIVB. Kraf/Maple just lost to a nobody team in the last tournament. Also, hopefully Simo will stay or UCLA. She is a winner and would be great to see her one more season as a Bruin or maybe she will just go pro. Much of this depends on the scholarship situation. I am sure Stien is trying hard to get her some $ to stay.

She was a freebie from indoor.

More to the point, I can't see why she would want to hang around to play 2nd level volleyball (3rd level if you include FIVB) rather than starting her post college life and/or trying out pro Beach. AFAIK she will graduate mid-June. So we're talking about a full year's delay to her starting real life.

I wish I would have delayed starting real life for longer. Maybe she just wants to be a kid and have fun for a while.
