Floridavbdad to clarify your records; Stephanie Samedy and Naomi Cabellos were both developed from their begginings and recruited while at TOP SELECT VOLLEYBALL ACADEMY. Matti McKesson played her last seasons and recruited at TOP SELECT VOLLEYBALL ACADEMY

OTVA just announced closing of south facility (12 courts) and north facility (4 courts) May 30, combining into Longwood with 5 courts. Case study of how to destroy a powerhouse program in 6 years or less: OVA birthed 2 players of year in Lindsey Owens and Savannah Vach. Central Florida won largest class state volleyball championship past 3 years off the back of ova players. (Winter Garden, oviedo high school and hagerty). Stephanie Samedy (MN) comes out of central Florida benefitting from OVA influence. Naomi Cabello - Texas setter same as Samedy Rileigh Powers - premier beach player (UCLA) grew up in this program. Matti Mckisssock ACC setter and server of year 2019 with majority of club resume at ova. The duo Bob Greis and Tanya Starrett crashed the OVA powerhouse program into the Florida sand in under 5 years. Unclear what Gries was thinking when he gobbled up every club in Florida he could and no one would come to his tourney or play his teams. Sad for central Florida Volleyball and the legacy built by pioneers of Sindee Snow and Yvonne Devlin.

Matti McKesson played her last seasons and recruited at TOP SELECT VOLLEYBALL ACADEMY Agreed. That’s why is said they benefitted from OVA influence. Nothing but respect to German and Blake... So many girls playing club in central Florida. Lots of high caliber competition in greater orlando area. As shown by dominance of largest class state championship. Hope something steps in to fill the void left by OTVA shutting down all those courts. Simple math says 14 courts can host 56 teams (practices 2 to 3 times a week with an early and late session). (14*2*2). Could leave many DD’s without a home.

Seems a bit of a stretch to say that they benefitted from OVA by playing at TS..I doubt Dallas Skyline is using TAV athletes to explain how good their club is. Also, I will still be shocked if OTVA doesn’t replace a good portion if not all of those courts at different venues next season. Time will tell.

It sounds like they could be preparing for the new normal. Having a smaller club and/or not being obligated to large rent payments could turn out to be a smart defensive strategy for the next year or two.

I don’t mean to put words in the OP mouth but I think the essence is that OVA now OTVA for a long time was the club every club in Florida was chasing. Yes every now and then you’d get one good age group at another club, but for the most part OVA sat at the top for every age group especially about 10 years ago. Coaches and players get poached from OVA and Top Select started as a bunch of OVA people. OVA set the bar for success as a Florida club and has helped overall elevate the level in Florida. This coming from someone with little affiliation with the club. I remember our girls be an OVA 2s team once and were through the moon to have beaten a team from OVA.
I would compare it to the rise in competition in the SEC due to Florida’s success. Or the rise of the Big Ten after PSU dominance. Competition breeds competition

OVA was absolutely the big dog in the yard. Their facility was amazing and their ability to train was excellent... but they also had a long term vision and dream... when OVA was sold that vision and dream changed and the mantle was either dropped or passed...

I fully appreciate your change of heart on the matter. From claiming that OT leadership was running the club into the ground because it closed its facility to “problem solved.” I do hope this thread highlights the dangers in parents making assumptions without any concrete knowledge. I’ve heard of clubs with 5 years of work to acquire a new facility not say a work to families until they were confident in their announcement. Should OT have announced the new facility before announcing the closure of the old one? Maybe. But these strange times have made people do things differently than they planned or wanted to. TL:DR people do things for reasons you might not be aware of, that doesn’t mean they don’t have reasons.

And the group that built both the OSC and created what was OVA got the facility back... Yvonne and Syndee will do a great job (again)... The community is better for them being back in the game.

You nailed it. Once ova was acquired OTVA created and Bob and Tanya flew it into the ground. Appreciate the OG’s of Orlando VB stepping in and resolving the issue. OVA (Yvonne/Sindee and Kim) were always about the kids. OTVA not so much.

New club steps in and takes over old facility. Kids/parent and clubs have a place to go. Appreciate the options.

They didn't sign a non-compete clause?

They didn't sign a non-compete clause? It’s been 5 years since they sold the club. Would make sense that it’s expired by now.

Sindee and Yvonne deserved their retirement. Super excited if they are back, however I'm disappointed if their return is in reaction to negative developments.
