Sindee and Yvonne deserved their retirement. Super excited if they are back, however I'm disappointed if their return is in reaction to negative developments. Aside from way more fishing than they probably got when they were running OVA they never really "retired". They have been active in the community in other ways, and have gotten involved w the pickleball community also. Their return is def a plus for more reasons than one. The least of them being that the athletes that choose to play at the OSC now will be looked at as humans and not a means to an end...

They have been going out and buying volleyball tournaments. They were purchasing MAPL Mid Atlantic Power League, and looking at running volleyball events in other states too like PA, OH, NC, etcetera. I guess those deals are going to stop, unless they're planning on running tournaments and then signing up their own teams to play in them. But I think that's probably somehow against the rules. That would be like paying themselves their own entry fee and collecting more money from the parents for admission in addition to the club dues.

Because that's pretty common for big clubs to also run tournaments. That's how many of the big clubs got to be big clubs.

I have been to the Boys scva qualifier, I don't think any club owns that. Same with the NorCal one, the Chicago Boys qualifier and the AAU nationals. JVA world championships. GIRLS big vegas tournament. I don't think it's common for clubs to own tournaments and if they did, I don't think they send their teams. Correct me if I'm wrong. Obviously the local clubs would still host those single day events in their own facilities, but for big qualifiers convention center tournaments like MAPL, I would think there must be some sort of restrictions?

Nope, not even close. And their shouldn’t be, since clubs running tournaments is what started club volleyball. And none of the tournaments they purchased are large. MAPL would not be considered large, and they only purchased one leg.

Some examples:
Lone Star Classic (was and I think still is the biggest tournament) is an Austin Juniors event
The Big South was originally in Tampa and owned by Tampa Juniors (when they were top club in Florida)
Northern Lights qualifier owned by... Northern Lights
Sports Performance ran many events out of their facility.
Some club in Houston, Houston Juniors I think, runs Cross Court Classic.
A club in Louisiana owns and operates three AAU Super Regionals - their teams play in all of them.
Beast of the East in Atlanta run by A5.
None of these restrict themselves from playing in their own events.

Yeah... It's far more common for clubs to own the events than not...
