D3 cut winter and spring sport NCAA Tournaments to 75% of maximum bracket/field size (championships committee recommendation, expected to be made official next month). All Pool A conferences are to retain access, however, even if doing so pushes that particular sport past the 75 percent threshold. So MVB's 16-team bracket would be reduced to 12 with 10 AQs and only 2 at large bids. Not sure how those 2 would be allocated among Pools B and C. Don't want to overstep my bounds, but we provided feedback to Champs Committee (as all individual sport committees did). Working to schedule a meeting for next week to discuss specifics

4/6 of seniors from Stevens are returning (Lehman not confirmed to be one of them yet) Kyle Vazquez (libero from Benedictine) transferring to north central Lancaster Bible College will be returning all of their starters. The setter battle will be one to watch out for between last year’s starter Reuben Kemrer or Kaleb Ansell who set for them during their NCAA run. If it was me, I am starting Kemrer who may not be as physically talented as Ansell but his IQ is off the charts. This is honestly the best post I’ve seen on volleytalk in the 2 years I’ve been on here no cap.

I think Keuka cut men's volleyball, it's not on their website anymore (nor is m/w cross country + m/w golf).

Sitting here at the bar absolutely slamming a case of wh*te cl*ws and a couple tens. Bobby Boucher just told me that if I can sing every lyric to dreams and nightmares he’ll get his mommy over here so I can mix her beans around. Little does he know, about every morning at 6 am sharp I wake myself up, sniff a whole bag of smelling salts, and rip about 337 reps of 315 on bench. Needless to say, looks like it’s about to be a good night for the greatest volleyball player to ever live. The other day I was sitting on the can for 45 minutes focusing on my drop shot. Then my stupid neighbor Mrs. Robinson knocked on the window and was screaming that her cat was stuck in a tree. I immediately grabbed my bathroom volleyball and fired a bullet jump serve at the tree branch while still seated. The branch snapped in half and the little feline fell safely to the mattress waiting below, cat saved. Can’t wait to watch Carthage absolutely dominate the 2021 D3 men’s volleyball world.

Elms looks to take a dive this year. Some of their talent leaving and their assistant coach leaving is sure to put a stop on the PR pipeline. My guess is elms joins the GNAC and struggles to keep up with Emmanuel. My prediction for new GNAC and NECC: Wentworth Rivier Lasell Emmanuel Elms Emerson Regis Dean Endicott Endicott Endicott Endicott Endicott Endicott

Does anyone think there may be a big difference in terms of how teams will look in the beginning of the year? I know regulations are different in different states, could you see that leading to some teams in less restricted areas having a huge jump on the teams who start second semester? I could see it being huge at early season benchmarks like the Kean Clash, and that may lead to teams being left out of the tournament based on head to head matchups.

Having talked to a few colleagues around the country in various conferences, I can see our sport delaying the start of the season until mid-February for some, while others may officially start play during the month of March. The NESCAC announcing the cancellation of all winter sports was big, and does not bode well for a normal start time for MVB on a whole. That being said, I wonder if the Kean Clash happens at all, and who they would get to attend? Their conference will be in a very odd spot this year, as the CVC spans 4-5 states with varying rules. The saving grace for our sport may be that even though most teams start in early January, MVB has always been Spring sport in the NCAA's books. In my OPINION, not based on anything, our sport could potentially shift the timeline a bit to buy more time if need be. If you delay the start of the season to pick up in March for example, you have a couple options. 1st - Conference only play across the board, AQ's advance to NCAA's. Testing requirements will drive a lot of these decisions. If a conference has a school that is testing weekly, and others that test bi-weekly, schools may be hesitant to play, may have to have a unanimous decision to return to play. Rapid testing availability becomes huge in this decision potentially. Interesting point here - 12 team tournament. 11 AQ's - AMCC has one now, leaving only the one Pool B/C. If conference only is played unanimously, you'd be leaving out Springfield, Cal Lu, Santa Cruz. Interesting twist - The CCIW, most notably Carthage and North Central, would not have an AQ in 2021, but would be playing conference play (Augustana, Loras, North Park, Millikin, Greenville) potentially. Do Santa Cruz and Cal Lu agree to play each other 11 times, driving up for a Friday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday match setup? Things could change, but I just don't see those two teams hopping on planes to play their entire schedules/teams flying out to them as they have in years past. The last I knew, UCSC has prioritized housing options available on campus, meaning it is likely that some/most of the team isn't even there this fall. If it is conference only, who does Springfield play then? 2nd - Some conferences will allow limited non-conference play. I think a lot of schools and conferences are waiting to see what the timeline is and if another waiver is produced to follow along the lines of the fall sports. IF that happens, the cap of 11 would be in place, so maybe 5-7 conference, then 2-3 post season, would allow for 1-4 non-conference matches for those schools with an AQ. If that is the case, then Springfield has no issues scheduling anybody in the region, and can make another strong schedule tailored to their liking. Or if no restrictions on dates, teams maybe play conference opponents 2x, and then have a few extra dates in hand to play non-conf. 3rd - Everything happens as a normal season, but the timeline could be shifted still. I personally don't see how no sports happen this fall, and then MVB is just allowed to go in January with the winter sports, if they are lucky enough to play. 4th - No season at all.

Man you have some pull now huh Hope this comment is just sarcasm. Take my role on the committee very seriously. There were a number of excellent bids to host national championships including Stevenson. Great facility on east coast, about 40 minutes south of volleyball hotbed (York, PA), and experience having hosted 2013 NCAA Championship for WLAX as well as hosting Football Stagg Bowl in 2022. Encouraged and excited for all four sites selected as I think they will do an excellent job
