Some thoughts from the season. 1. How awesome was it to be the first Division III National Championship since December of 2019? While there were certainly some bumps in the road along the way, they were fairly minimal. Not a single positive test from Salem and we were able to have a full championship experience for the 12 teams. 2. Congratulations to Carthage. I watched as much (if not more) Division III Men's Volleyball matches than anyone this year. Carthage was the best team in the country without a doubt. They are more than deserving of their National Championship and there will be no historical footnote or asterisk accompanying it. 3. Thank you to the the folks in Salem. Eight weeks ago we didn't even know if we would be having a championship, let alone where it would be. They were unbelievable in terms of preparing everything in short amount of time and creating a top shelf experience for our student-athletes. Ask anyone who competed- this was an amazing set up and venue. 4. It's been amazing to see the talent of Division III men's volleyball spread around the country to different schools, conferences, and regions- all without diluting the product. Young programs, ones with storied histories, multiple NCAA appearances, and first timers- most programs have "A DUDE" who belongs on that national stage and can make plays. 5. 2022- what treat this season is going to be. With the amount of 5th/6th year seniors we have returning, NYU-MIT-Rivier and more coming back, and the increase in athleticism for all athletes and programs- we could be looking at one of the all time seasons for Division III Men's Volleyball. It was great to have some time away from Volleytalk this season. To be honest, it was great for my mental health. I came back (albeit infrequently) to check the thread from time to time. For those who had nice things to say, thank you. For the few who will continue to troll and berate me, I'm sorry. I'm sorry that you have nothing better going on than to come on and say the things that you say. Sorry that you feel the need to tear others down instead of encouraging an open discourse. The week in Salem reminded me of how many wonderful and supportive people are in the volleyball community- so an even bigger thanks to those who made the time to connect in person (looking at you Vassar and Benedictine). I'm sure I will get some flack for this "holier than thou" post- but I don't care. Division III Men's Volleyball is a huge part of my life, and I am glad to be a part of it. On to 2022. Well said. It’s great to have you back. You bring great knowledge to the d3 threads and make such a positive impact on the d3 community as a whole. Trolls will be trolls. Thanks for everything Reignman!

I'm sorry. I'm sorry that you have nothing better going on than to come on and say the things that you say. Sorry that you feel the need to tear others down instead of encouraging an open discourse. So happy to have you back. Your insights and thoughtful comments are appreciated by most of us. I'd much rather get an 'inside' view from you and the other well-connected posters than read about smashed beer cans, sophomoric posturing and insults. 2022 will be a great year for D3 MVB in general and especially the MAC. In 2021 the MAC managed to play 140 conference matches, over half of which were well-contested. Alvernia, Arcadia, Messiah, Misericordia, Stevens and Stevenson are all good teams/programs making the MAC one of the deepest conferences in the nation. It's good to know that next year almost every MAC game will be worth watching. Good luck to all D3 MVB teams, the MAC, you and your team next year.

This years tournament will have a massive asterisk's on it in my opinion. Some of these teams don't have a fighting chance and will be blown out by the like's of Vassar or Endicott. I mean New Jersey City? Come on. Time to get rid of the automatic berth from a Skyline conference. Anyway good luck to all teams competing although I don't see anyone giving Vassar any hassle on their way to a National Championship. God this aged so well..... Endicott was hot BASURA. At the end of the day Endicott won as many sets as Hiram did.....LOLLLLLLL GG #youjustgotcertified

Here goes a few questions for those "IN THE KNOW:"
1 - With the "rejuvenation" of D1 volleyball coming into the fold, how does it effect D3 recruiting going forward?
2 - Since it looks like we will be going into 2022 with a clearer "medical" outlook, how does this effect the coming D3 season, especially for a school like Springfield. - - Does Springfield go back to being an independent? - - Do D3 mid-major teams WANT to play them in hopes of getting a better ranking? - - How will the realignment of certain conferences effect the national rankings going forward?
3 - Who will emerge as THE team to beat in EACH region? - - Does Benedictine do it again? - - Will Vassar make a bigger push? - - Do Steven's, NYU, S. Vermont, (heck) Misericordia come out of the shadows to become THAT next team? - - Does New Paltz find their mojo post the Smith's? - - DOES ANYONE CARE THAT THE CUNYAC TEAMS WERENT EVEN THERE??? as a former CUNYAC volleyballer, this does mean something to me.
If you are going to answer...make it civil...THANKS

Would really be something to see Southern Vermont gain prominence, seeing as how the school closed 2 years ago.
Edit: maybe the poster meant Southern Virginia.
I do hope the CUNYAC resumes competition in 21-22. More is always better than less.
