Should be two good matches tomorrow, looks like the Midwest showed up this year. Although I'm sure the East Coast homers are gonna say "no New Paltz and no Springfield" but lots of people said Vassar was the class of the field and they got swept under the rug today.

My takeaway from the games today: UCSC would have swept all these teams. Like North Park and Aurora?

Vassar looked and played like a young team yesterday. Dominican was trying to give away game 3 with all those net violations (up 17-12, barely held on to win 25-23 on a missed serve from Vassar), but Vassar looked uncomfortable in serve receive for most of the match. Gotta question the coach for keeping van Beveren at the RS the whole time. He scored points in system, but was worse than useless in less controlled rallies. Maybe put your two time AA middle back in the middle when you're down 0-2? they have a solid RS in Gulick Dominican's setter did a nice job, and their blocking was strong for most of the match. A national championship without Springfield in the tournament for sure has a big ol asterisk. Haven't they been to every single final in the post-Molten Final 4 era?

No they haven’t if you stretch history back to just the last one played in 2019 where New Paltz played UCSC you’ll find the last time there was a National Championship without Springfield in the final. I guess I’m questioning how all the asterisk talk is going with Springfield, it would be one thing if their school cancelled their season and they couldn’t play. They got on the court and didn’t do enough to get in. Do I think it sucks, yes. But they had their schedule and they needed to get it done, and they didn’t they lost. This was the year of Springfield’s greatest strength, not being in a conference, came back to be their biggest weakness.

Props to the announcers of the tournament. They add so much to the broadcast. I love the fact that they know the audience. They didn't spend any time explaining the basics that are obvious to the majority of the viewers so they could spend more time on technical things and explaining viewpoints of the coaches and the players might be. They did their homework getting to know most of the players. Their expertise really shines and the drama of the matches are heightened.

My takeaway from the games today: UCSC would have swept all these teams. Like North Park and Aurora? North Park and Aurora weren't in the tournament so it seems like UCSC would be safe.
