Ngl I forgot Andrea was on that season. Yea Andrea was upset with Sarah, I remember that now. I think the wedding ring thing was a final three deal with Brad but im not 100% I think we can put the blame on that on the producers. Sarah/Tony and Jeremy/Nat should have *never* been on the same starting tribe. It's not fair to them or the rest of the cast S34 had so many 'great' players. I really liked Andrea and was a bit confused that she acted more personal after being voted out than her prior seasons. What I liked about her - she was willing to make any move and hold no grudges. What was the 'wedding ring' thing? I wasn't aware of Sarah crossing a line. Sarah and Tony being rock solid allies is/was a huge advantage. I don't know if this should diminish them - but I tend to say no because it should have been apparent to the rest of the experienced players to get them out. It is a testament to those two that they didn't have that target on them. I mean Rob and Amber were lock solid allies - but that just made them easy players to get out sooner than later. I agree with you on Tony and Sarah. It should also be noted that both won a season without much help, if any, from the other. Tony voted Sarah out of Cagayan at the merge once he realized he couldn't trust her anymore, and Sarah never got to team up with Tony in Game Changers after he flamed out.

Reality TV World: Were you shocked Brad took you to the end instead Tai? It was obviously a surprise to viewers given we later found out he would have won the whole game had he brought Tai and Troyzan to the Final 3. Sarah Lacina: Yeah, so, I remember sitting in one of my interviews going, "How is my name off the chopping block? How are we debating between Troyzan and Tai right now, and I'm not being debated on?" What didn't get shown is that I ruined my word so bad with these guys that I had to go to, like, material items. And I wear this bracelet that I wear every single day, and that I obviously wore out there and I wore on my first season, and so I offered it up as a sign of, "Here, if I'm lying to you guys and the vote doesn't go the way I'm saying it's going to go, then take my bracelet and throw it into the ocean. That's the only thing I can offer up right now if you don't believe what comes out of my mouth." So we do that, and in fact we did that at the [Michaela Bradshaw] vote out, and then that solidified some trust with them and me. Well, I really needed to seal the deal that they would take me to the end, and so myself, Brad and Troyzan actually all exchanged items. I actually had Brad's wedding ring and obviously we can all see how much he loves his wife. And so for the simple fact I had Brad Culpepper's wedding ring, and if he votes me out, he knows that wedding ring is going to the bottom of the ocean. It was a move I had to make to solidify that they would not vote me out. And so, in that aspect, I'm not surprised that he kept me, because you guys didn't know that that had happened. A similar quote, but explains why she resorted to exchanging physical items: “ I had destroyed my word so bad with everybody that I had to move on to material items. I gave Brad and Troyzan a bracelet I was wearing and I was like, ‘Here, if I turn on you guys, throw this thing in the fire. This means the world to me. I wore it on my first season, blah, blah, blah. But if we’re making this pact, it’s only fair that you give me something.’ So I actually had Brad Culpepper’s wedding ring. And I told him, ‘If you turn on me, I’m going to throw it in the ocean.’ And we all see how much he loves Monica. I had to do that to solidify, so I actually felt very confident they weren’t going to turn on me because I had Brad Culpepper’s wedding ring. And I had one of Troyzan’s bracelets. So I had both of their items. So if either one of them screws me over everyone is getting screwed too ‘cause I’m keeping both of their things. And then they have one item of mine together. But at the day 39 breakfast we all gave each other the items back.” Re: Andrea, she made Andrea swear on her dead sister. That's what I was thinking of. I think the edit generally shielded Sarah, since she went on to win the season and the show likes to have "likable" winners. It seems like they didn't show some of her most questionable moves.

So many players in WaW got bad edits. Danni and Wendell were bad. Danni got edited to seem dumb frankly when really it was Ethan, Rob, and Parv that flipped. Wendell got this weird "villain" edit. Natalie A had a lot of bad stuff also removed from EoE by the editors

There were also so many perceived pairs/alliances (Jeremy and Nat, Kim and Tyson, Parv and Ethan, etc.) that it was easy for them to slip by for a while. It definitely became a huge advantage after we hit the Kim or Jeremy votes. I thought it was pretty clear that Tony was going to win at that point. Another reason the Tony + Sarah alliance might have slipped by for a while was because Tony told like 3 other people they were his number 1 haha. On a slightly related note, I really wish they hadn't brought back both Amber and Rob. Personally, I would have just liked to see Amber play without only being there to support her husband. I've had enough Rob on my TV lol.

But CBS would not want that and Im not sure Amber goes out there if Rob doesnt

I feel bad for Kim. She did absolutely no pregaming. She said producers said they would replace her if she did, so she followed their rules and didn't do it (huge disadvantage) and then getting lumped with Tyson, which according to her, wasn't a thing at all (the poker alliance) She hung around Tyson because his personality made being away from their kids easier, which a lot of the parents did. They cried and bonded lol
I wish we would've seen the Sophie/Kim power duo. But Sophie said she loved Kim but would never work with her. She didn't want to get duped like One World did. That was the general take among the cast according to, I dont remember if it was Kim or Sophie that said it. They didn't know if Kim was sincere (she was) or trying to play the same way she did previously.

I think that Rob wouldn't play without Amber this season... or something like that. It was definitely unfair to have a married couple, but then what bugged me even more, was how Amber repeatedly stated that she was there to support Rob. Not win, but there to support him.
Vecepia or Tina should have taken her spot.
Kim in her post-game interviews and stuff has said though that she doesn't know if the "pre-gaming" helped. I agree - I think it got some players (Michele is the first one who comes to mind needing to keep Adam around because they had a pregame alliance, even though Adam was floundering) into sticky situations. That being said, I don't know if you classify something like "Cops R Us" as pregaming, but if you do, then pregaming explains at least 51% of the gameplay during the season...

Just finished Palau, and I'm not sure why this season is held in high regard. Apart from Ulong being the worst tribe ever, I was pretty bored. Tom definitely deserved to win, but I found almost the entire cast to be fairly bland and/or unlikable. I did enjoy Coby's jury speech in which he called Tom and Katie out for the way they played. But this season is now a distant dead last on my list. At least Game Changers had Tony and Sandra pre-merge.
Edit: Coby revealing that he named his daughter after Janu in the reunion was great and may have been better than anything in the actual season.

I have now seen 12 seasons of Survivor, and I would rank them in the following order:
1. Winners at War 2. Pearl Islands 3. Cagayan 4. Heroes v. Villains 5. Cambodia 6. China 7. Tocantins 8. Vanuatu 9. Cook Islands 10. Kaoh Rong 11. Game Changers 12. Palau
This is subject to change a bit, but the top three are in a tier by themselves, as are the next four. And Palau is dead last.

Rumors are Survivor is working with the Fiji govt to try to get filming started in July. From what I've seen Fiji is now covid free, after all of their cases have recovered.

Just finished Tocantins, and that was a really good season. JT played probably the best first game of Survivor I have seen (no votes against the entire time, a unanimous win in final tribal council, won the last three individual immunity challenges to make it impossible to vote him out, etc.). He was so likable that other people were harming their own games just to help him succeed. The best example was Brendan, who decided at one point that even though he could never beat JT at the end, his new goal was to get JT to the end and have him win anyway (to be fair, Brendan sold his company for $80 million, so he didn't exactly need the money). Just remarkable. The rest of the cast was also great. In particular, Taj is on the short list of my favorite players ever. Tyson, Coach and Fishbach also made memorable first appearances (Coach in particular is ridiculous). I have updated my ongoing list of seasons as follows:
Tier 1 1. Winners at War 2. Pearl Islands 3. Cagayan Tier 2 4. Heroes v. Villains 5. Cambodia 6. China 7. Tocantins Tier 3 8. Vanuatu 9. Cook Islands 10. Kaoh Rong Tier 4 11. Game Changers 12. Palau
Tocantins is firmly in the second tier (really good seasons that didn't quite match the top tier), along with Heroes v. Villains, Cambodia and China. I'm debating whether to bump Heroes v. Villains into the top tier. It's really close, and I might just be stubborn because it was hyped so much. I probably will at some point. If Ami had won Vanuatu instead of Chris, that season would be in one of the top two tiers, but alas, she did not. Still a good season, though.

Ugh, I'm so tired of Fiji. same! I was really hoping we'd see a US based season this fall given all of the travel restrictions. But the production costs would increase a lot and they wouldn't have the time to complete it. They're going to stay in Fiji for the near future. They get a lot of their production staff from there and they get breaks from the Fiji government bc they bring a lot of business there.

Ugh, I'm so tired of Fiji. One of the reasons I watch Survivor (and The Amazing Race) is to scout out different vacation spots. After so many seasons in Fiji, don't have the desire to go there as much as before.
