I dont disagree there is a lot of pressure and it is far from perfect, but consider that all those same coaches that are misleading your 15-16 year old were pressuring and misleading my 13-14 year old. It was not better before. Disagree. I went throught it as a parent under the old system. There was pressure, but nothing like there is now. There was a nice extended time frame where you could talk to coaches, try out camps before conversations got serious, make unofficial visis early. Now, extext for the top tier - who can wait since they will always find a pretty good spot, there is an incredible time crunch. Either they narrow down to the right 3 or 4 schools now, or they are stuck waiting until after presidents day to get seen again...by then many schools will be out of money. Obviously, not all experiences are the same, but I don't understand your point. Your last paragraph literally describes the situation now as no different than it was before, except your daughter would be 2-3 years older when she goes through it. How does it make sense to wax nostalgic about "a nice extended time frame" (if you are not top tier), then complain that under the new rules, if you don't "narrow down to the right 3 or 4 schools now", you are "stuck waiting until after presidents day", which sounds exactly like the long, extended period you preferred. It will be interesting to see whether the new rules cut down on transfers. My daughters club has mostly DI recruits at 18U. Players from the last 4 classes under the old rules that left their original teams is probably at least 50%. The 21 and 22 classes had a lot of players committed prior to the rule change. I'll be very interested to compare the transfer rates between the 17-20 classes (old rules plus COVID) and the 23-26 classes.

Like it or not, under either system, schools "need" to be done with their class by late spring of JR year. Under the new system, if you have to wait until President's Day (or later if you don't play in any earlier qualifiers), you don't have sufficient time to get seen by many schools. Under the old system, players could call and visit as many schools as they wanted during Soph. year, a time when the schools weren't yet under pressure to finish their class. Kids that were ready could visit and take their time, while the kids that weren't ready, could wait and make decisions during JR year. If anything, the new timetable has created a "starting line" that everyone is standing on together and that has actually reduced the number of roster spots that will be available by spring of JR year. Bottom half d1 school - President's Day of 2019 we were still recruiting 2020's, and had barely started 2021s. Compared to now - I fully expect to finish the class of 2024 before August. FYI - College athletes have historically transfered schools at a lower rate than the general student population. It appears to be getting much worse now primarily due to COVID year, and transfer portal.

I think this statement is probably true for most schools, but east coast high academics have been getting Junior year full transcripts over the last few weeks. They may already know who they want, but they now will go to pre-reads and figure out who is feasible to get into the school.
My 2cents.

Kelly Sheffield just tweeted a Bingo. Any idea who the Badgers just picked up?

I heard Ames was in between WI and NE, so that could be possible.

Feels like Wisconsin hasn't gotten a junior-level commit in about 40 years.

I do not know, but my guess is Ayden (sp?) Ames. Based on what? She's an ambitious MB and I think she wants to go where there is a history of great MBs. But I don't have super inside scoop, just a little talking here and there. I haven't had a great record of predicting, but just like gambling, I am trying my luck with this one.

Ayden Ames literally just made her account public so I’m thinking that she is announcing her commitment soon…
