What is this deal with what tournament they are playing? I was under the impression they got rid of the HP teams? Does the LOnestar region have a team in this? I do not believe Lone Star is participating. I think this is somewhat of a spin-off from what HP was, instead of having big open tryouts for team placement, coaches recommend players and that’s how rosters are formed. There’s certainly not every region represented here, but it seems like a rebranded “HP”

Some kids just need a break from everything too. After nationals and camps, it’s hard to do a HP type tournament. And a lot of those kids were also in Tulsa for NTDP

Looks like Reese Ptacek (MB Northern Lights) is going to Kansas.

So add that cost on top of club, camp, nationals... That brings up a good point, for most? Who does pay for that? I know there are some kids that attend everything from out of state camps to this ntdp that do not have the means to pay for that. Is there sponsors?

South Dakota just got a verbal from Lauren Medeck, 6-0 OH from Papillion, NE (Premier NE AAU). I don't know what she is ranked nationally, but Prep Dig had her as the #1 2024 from Nebraska. She was all-tournament at the USAVB open tournament last month as well (along with her teammate, Libero Faith Frame). Let me know if she should be in this thread or not, I can move it to another one. Pretty huge get for USD, though! LINK

(Couldn’t see w/o a Prep Dig acct)

One is an outside hitter. The other is a libero. They are both ranked number one for the position they play in the State of Nebraska. They both play for Premier, but Mauch plays for the 17 team. She also made All-tournament team at 17 Open while Medweck made all-tournament team at 16 open.
I don't know that much about Lauren Medweck, but if I'm South Dakota I'd be pretty happy about getting her. Perhaps they offered her a four year scholarship while some of the Big Tens were tantalizing her with back loaded two years.

They create plenty of debate, but schools know who the players are & where kids end up will reflect that. Certainly doesn't mean that every top prospect will pan out or that an athlete can't make significant improvement from 16-18. It's been stated on here that not many schools are offering a full 4 years & this may be an example of finding a great fit and the right scholarship situation.

Only a sophomore, yet has played on a state runner-up and a state championship team in the top class in Nebraska, along with filling in last year as a freshman with the 18 Gold Premier team when they won USA, and her 16 Gold team has had a great deal of success themselves. It is a very very good pick-up for USD. Can't compare Mauch to Medeck. Different team, different position, etc. For their positions, they are probably the top for their class. Both are really good! Same with Frame.

Lauren Medeck came up from the Premier 15’s team the week before the tournament to step up at OH on the 18’s team to win 18 OPEN in Columbus with Lindsay Krause limited by injury to being the the world’s tallest Libero. 🤩 More than held her own against Adversity 18 Adidas in the Gold Finals in Columbus in 2021. 😳
