South Dakota just got a verbal from Lauren Medeck, 6-0 OH from Papillion, NE (Premier NE AAU). I don't know what she is ranked nationally, but Prep Dig had her as the #1 2024 from Nebraska. She was all-tournament at the USAVB open tournament last month as well (along with her teammate, Libero Faith Frame). Let me know if she should be in this thread or not, I can move it to another one. Pretty huge get for USD, though! LINK Ranking her #1 in the state over Mauch? That’s an interesting choice… Medeck is a winner. Only a sophomore, yet has played on a state runner-up and a state championship team in the top class in Nebraska, along with filling in last year as a freshman with the 18 Gold Premier team when they won USA, and her 16 Gold team has had a great deal of success themselves. It is a very very good pick-up for USD. Can't compare Mauch to Medeck. Different team, different position, etc. For their positions, they are probably the top for their class. Both are really good! Same with Frame.

Lauren Medeck came up from the Premier 15’s team the week before the tournament to step up at OH on the 18’s team to win 18 OPEN in Columbus with Lindsay Krause limited by injury to being the the world’s tallest Libero. 🤩 More than held her own against Adversity 18 Adidas in the Gold Finals in Columbus in 2021. 😳

I’m in the best state of shock possible Just curious, how good is she? It seems like she can hit a heavy ball but a lot of her highlights are defense and serve receive.

Prep Volleyball’s #1 recruit, was being recruited by basically any school that she would let talk to her. if her highlights seem geared towards passing and defense, it’s probably because, sadly, a lot of outsides don’t have the ability to pass or play defense that well (hell we have an outside on the US national team who can’t pass for sh!t and she was a STARTER a couple weeks ago in a knockout game). it’s extremely impressive, especially the highlights where she’s in a two person serve receive.

First time a 20+ loss team was joined by a prepdig #1 recruit in the country? That team is so bad.
