Thanks Vinnie for the heads up
The Championships Finance Review Working Group submitted an initial proposal to the Division I Council to reduce the men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament from seven to four teams, according to documents obtained by Off the Block.
The NCAA established this working group prior to the coronavirus pandemic to examine the financial feasibility of all future NCAA Division I and National Collegiate championships. The working group, citing increasing team travel expenses and the lack of revenue from NCAA Tournaments besides basketball, recommended reducing the tournament fields for seven sports, including NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball.
***************
The working group’s proposal has yet to be formally submitted to the Division I Council for consideration.
The group will make revisions based on feedback before it is slated in October to submit the proposal to the Division I Council and the various sports committees. The proposal will then be considered by some of the top committees in NCAA before a scheduled vote for final approval in April 2021.
Garard said men’s volleyball coaches or conferences wishing to provide feedback about the working group’s proposal can contact First Point Volleyball Foundation in the upcoming weeks as the organization prepares its response.

Who is on the committee? Is every conference represented on this committee? So much Bias on this. So basically the West Coast will get both bids potentially and could get all 4 if 2 are voted at-large. RIP EIVA, MIVA, and CC.
The 'Grow the Game' movement is such BS.
I would blow up their email and voice mail.
This is beyond DUMB!!!!!! I am speechless.

Why is Garard and/or First Point the savior? Speraw is involved with First Point, correct? Who is in this working group? This is a joke.

The MIVA, Big West, MPSF, CC commissioners must be busy. Vinnie how about their reactions. Where are the AVCA or USA Volleyball statements? Funny, when women's volleyball is threatened by NCAA minimums there is a fast response overwhelming social media presence. Men's volleyball. Who cares...

"A four-team NCAA event would result in not every conference being represented in the tournament field." that is a polite way to say the CC will be screwed if this happens. I haven't read up on all the details but if it goes thru does that mean no wild card? That is rough and would be a first ever, there has always been a wild card. Can you imagine last year if UH or LB didn't get to go to the dance? It would lessen the legitimacy of the NCAA tournament and some years the BW or MPSF tournaments will be more entertaining an high level. Like the old MPSF tourneys of the past. Seems lie a bad idea for all sides. There has to be a way to cut costs other than reducing teams. Maybe make it so seeds 5-7 pay some of their travel expenses? bake sale? sell candy bars in front of supermarkets?

vinnielopes any comment yet from MIVA, Big West, or MPSF. Again this would seem to benefit the west coast. And the commissioner of the MIVA is a Loyola guy, so I'm just going to leave that one alone for now.
