Interesting that Stafford and Billy are the 4th ranked US team on the FIVB yet seeded 10th in the AVP Champions Cup. Because they skipped out on MBO, placed 7th in NYC and 9th in Chicago. It was a mediocre season for them last year. They had Olympic aspirations last year 😏

Just crazy to think Rosie could be out in all of this. He is still a top 5 men's defender (IMHO) when he's healthy and he is healthy right now. As long as there aren't any major shake-ups and the AVP doesn't give a Curt Toppel another wildcard, Rosie appears to be safe. The AVP is better with Rosie, so if anyone should get a wildcard, it would be him.

Anyone have any intel on why Casey would leave Troy for Theo? If he wanted Theo why didn't he just go with him from the start? Based on current points seems like Casey would have been in same spot with either guy. Was excited to see Tim behind a bigger block in Theo, but happy to see the Troy/Tim reunited as they had great chemistry. Also I ask that everyone PLEASE PLEASE comment on everything that AVP posts (FB/Instagram) to please stream all the qualifier matches. I know it's a longshot but if all of us comment on everything please stream all the qualifier matches maybe they will see the light. We don't need any commentary if that is too much just live feed of all the matches would be great. I think Troy was more of a long term play that probably works out if Casey and he had time to do a long training camp and then grow into their partnership. Casey/Theo played together and know each other and Theo is a known, predictable quantity for Casey. That probably counts for a lot

This is basically 3 tournament run for money over the course of a month. I would think alot of players would pick Theo over Field in that circumstance, and the fact Patterson played with him before means they won't have an ironing out period. Any new partnership is basically at risk of washing out the first tournament or so regardless of talent just to possibly get through a feeling out period. Some teams don't have that, but it's always a risk.

Didn't Field and Patterson get together to make a run internationally? Or what was their reasoning? Maybe because of COVID Patterson decided not to pursue the olympics? I feel like this Is a decision for the long term.

If Casey doesn't think Troy is good enough to compete on the AVP, Casey's just been wasting Troy's time.

I feel like this Is a decision for the long term. I doubt Casey has realistic Olympic aspirations at this point. He will be 44 in 2024. But he’s probably still good enough to make some money on the FIVB and Field seems like he would have been a good partner for both of them for a year or two. It kind of feels that they way they’ve structured the Champions Cup might not be best for the long term growth of US teams for international play.

Casey didn’t exactly have a good year on the FIVB circuit in 2019. He was probably a good choice for Troy if they were playing in the 2* or 3* events and played a mentor role for Troy to get accustomed to the international play but I don’t think they would’ve made a run for 2024 together. Troy wanted to start playing internationally and needed someone with some international points. http://instagram.com/p/B5dsZD0lNlt

It's just AMAZING to me that the pro's can't dedicate a throw-away phone to streaming their prime career...I know, I know, no money for most of them, but man, you have to market yourself and what better way than streaming your matches...Thank god for Jason D. and the gang for keeping us watching, but, really, no feeds (that I knew of) for Eric's tourney last weekend...I mean, Post the link on volleyball, we share, more watch, everybody wins....Well, IMHO....

Kid must be broke So the theory is Ty paid to play with a player inferior to other partners he could have gotten? and is paying a kid that has been, and still is, not able to accept prize money or sponsorship since he is on the roster as a frosh at UCLA next year. 90272 isn't the place many kids need hand outs of any kind much less one that would jeopardize his NCAA eligibility. I don't completely understand the partnership but maybe it is an opportunity for Miles to learn some things from a veteran and the points made sense compared to other actual options they had.

Kid must be broke So the theory is Ty paid to play with a player inferior to other partners he could have gotten? I took this as "Loomis is losing some cash" Not that he is paying Partain, especially to block. Who is Kolinske playing with? Ty/Bill would have been 6 or 7 seed. Also Brunsting would have them ranked higher too. Has Ty been coaching Partain?? that is the only thought in my head.
