If our assumptions are right, and the AVP doesn't use any wildcards, the qualifier would look like this... | Q1: Ricardo/Evans |
| Q8: Rafu/Piotr | Winner of 8 v 9 |
| Q9: Drost/Frishman |
| Winner to MD |
| Q4: Billy/Stafford |
| Q5: Tim/Troy | Winner of 5 v 12 |
| Q12: Rosie/Lotman | |
|
| Q2: Priddy/Lee |
| Q7: Ratledge/Skylar | Winner of 7 v 10 |
| Q10: Kolinske/Partain |
| Winner to MD |
| Q3: Doherty/Loomis |
| Q6: McKibbins | Winner of 6 v 11 |
| Q11: Beranek/Benesh |
|
|
The top half of the bracket looks much tougher than the bottom. More former AVP champs in the bottom half (Reid, Ed, Ryan, Ty, and Maddison) than the top (Rafu, Billy, Stafford, and Rosie), but more total wins on the top though with Rosie's 12. Tim/Troy may be the best team in the Q, but they have the toughest road. I could see a team like Kolinske/Partain coming out of the bottom half, but they could easily lose in the first round too. The qualifier field is pretty much an AVP San Francisco field on it's own. They are going to reseed after each event, so every match counts.

Team TNT back at it per Troy Fields IG story. Called C.Pat breaking up with him a "blessing in disguise". Was there bad blood, or is this simply Casey trying to make as much money as he can in this short period? www.instagram.com/troyfield_beach/?hl=en Awesome way to respond to the breakup!

Just saw that 10 days ago it was Bomgren and Theo. http://instagram.com/p/CBqwulNFijI So it was a switch between what was originally Bomgren/Theo and Casey/Field to now Bomgren/Field and Casey/Theo.

Latest: Avery/Ryan . . . (rumor, but, well, you know...) Where is Ty in this? Ty could play with Michael Brunsting and be safely in the qualifier. They played in 6 main draws together last year.

Troy has to feel a bit wronged with this happening so close to the event

Latest: Avery/Ryan . . . (rumor, but, well, you know...) Who would that leave Frishman with? What may be interesting is if the teams at the very bottom start churning seeing which players could blackmail their way to a better partner by threatening to pick up someone not currently in the Q, but with whom they might push some other team out. Brunsting and Frish seem like the most likely option, which might push Rosie out - havent seen the numbers on that - which may set off a chain reaction of players trying to find a combo that gets them in

Brunsting and Frishman make sense. Still leaves out Loomis. I just don't understand why Doherty and Drost would pair up? Why not Rosie and Doherty? Drost of all people has me scratching my head.

Just crazy to think Rosie could be out in all of this. He is still a top 5 men's defender (IMHO) when he's healthy and he is healthy right now.

He has played with both before, Ty more recently. The other would be on the outside looking in. There's no one out there with enough points to overtake Rosie/Lotman. Assuming everyone signs up, the best they could do is pick up a Duncan Budinger or a Logan Webber and be the first team on the wait list in case someone drops out.

Interesting that Stafford and Billy are the 4th ranked US team on the FIVB yet seeded 10th in the AVP Champions Cup.

Anyone have any intel on why Casey would leave Troy for Theo? If he wanted Theo why didn't he just go with him from the start? Based on current points seems like Casey would have been in same spot with either guy. Was excited to see Tim behind a bigger block in Theo, but happy to see the Troy/Tim reunited as they had great chemistry.
Also I ask that everyone PLEASE PLEASE comment on everything that AVP posts (FB/Instagram) to please stream all the qualifier matches. I know it's a longshot but if all of us comment on everything please stream all the qualifier matches maybe they will see the light. We don't need any commentary if that is too much just live feed of all the matches would be great.

Interesting that Stafford and Billy are the 4th ranked US team on the FIVB yet seeded 10th in the AVP Champions Cup. Billy/Stafford would jump Doherty if he ends up going with Avery. That moves Alick to the other half of the bracket where they would be going through the winner of the McKibbins and Beranek/Benesh, and a play-in match against either Priddy/Lee, Ratledge/Skylar, or Kolinske/Partain. In that case they would have to be the favorite to advance to the main draw.
