Offensive Player of the Week
Caylee Parker, Connecticut, Jr., OH (Windsor, Ontario)
In a 2-0 weekend for the Connecticut Huskies, junior outside hitter Caylee Parker tallied back-to-back double-doubles to win the series over Seton Hall. In the three-set sweep on Friday, Parker notched 11 kills and 10 digs. Her 11 kills were a game best. On Saturday, Parker hit a season-high 19 kills and added 10 digs, two blocks and two service aces. UConn defeated Seton Hall, 3-1. Parker’s 19 kills were again a game high. Parker hit .340 for the match.
Defensive Player of the Week
Jaela Zimmerman, Creighton, Jr., OH/L (Lincoln, Neb.)
Creighton junior outside hitter Jaela Zimmerman played libero for the Bluejays for the first time in her career on Sunday. In the role, she delivered a match-high 18 digs while additionally contributing two aces and a kill in Creighton’s 3-0 sweep of Xavier. Zimmerman and the Bluejays held the Musketeers to just .114 hitting for the match. On Saturday, Zimmerman played in her regular role as an outside hitter. She tied her career-high with 19 kills and added 10 digs with three aces in a five-set match to clinch a BIG EAST tournament bid.
Freshman of Week
Maryanne Boyle, Providence, Fr., MB (Blacklick, Ohio)
Providence freshman middle blocker Maryanne Boyle helped the Friars to back-to-back wins over Villanova in the season’s final weekend. In Saturday’s win over VU to clinch a tournament berth, Boyle tallied nine kills and hit .350, while also adding four block assists. On Friday, Boyle contributed two kills and four block assists. Both matches came down to five sets.
Honor Roll
Kennadie Jake-Turner, UConn
Jake-Tuner hit .692 with no errors and added five service aces, three digs and three blocks in the first match vs. Seton Hall. Followed up that performance with 11 kills, five digs and two blocks.
Annika Welty, Creighton
Welty averaged 2.50 kills and 0.88 blocks per set on .395 hitting as Creighton won a pair of matches against Xavier to win the Midwest Division. Seven of Welty’s career-high 12 kills on Saturday’s five-set win came in the final two sets as CU rallied from a 2-1 deficit.
Allison Barber, Providence
Barber tallied 39 assists, one block assist with four kills and 15 digs against Villanova on Friday. Then added 47 assists on Saturday’s match with 14 digs and seven kills as PC went 2-0.
Emma Nelson, Providence
Tallied 18 kills, three block assists, and three digs for 19.5 points against Villanova on Friday. On Saturday, Nelson tallied 14 kills with a .212 hitting percentage as the Friars went 2-0 to clinch the final spot in the East Division.
Efrosini Alexakou, St. John’s
Alexakou racked up a match-high 14 kills while hitting at a .333 clip in the Red Storm’s sweep of Villanova on Tuesday. She also recorded eight digs, one block and one ace to help St. John’s secure the top seed in the conference’s East Division.
