I don't see a spot for MBH, in the starting 2 anyways. Her passing could rule Drews ineffective. her passing isn’t THAT bad

I also think that Plummer could be that OOS clean up hitter the team is missing. Drews is scary in system but really doesn't make smart choices OOS, yet. Thompson's spot is in jeopardy IMO since playing OH this past season really seemed to screw with her confidence. She, along with Drews, are blocking liabilities IMO. They have the height but don't make smart reads on the play enough to shut down the big OH's. Lowe has a leg up blocking but her back court defense is quite laughable. She will be exploited like she was during AU. Did anyone else notice how much she was being tipped at? She was sprawled out everywhere but it didn't really translate to much success. She just seemed slow and sluggish. Perhaps that will change with more training and after some time with the team.
All in all, this race (Opp) is the most exciting one to me. Cannot wait to see how it all plays out.

I think she still has use on the roster because she does have one of the bigger arms and can hit on the RS if necessary. She an Plummer are similar but Plummer's passing is not as good as MBH's, yet.

her passing isn’t that bad It's also not as good as any of the other options. the other options are some of the best passers in the whole world and they don’t have the same arm as MBH.

If we went with #LibeRobo, we could cover MBH passing if we needed her to play.

It’s a high bar to compare her passing to Larson and Krob. She is also more terminal than either of them so it’s not like she doesn’t bring anything to the table

At this point, I am rooting for JWO to get the Libero spot if LibeRobo isn't going to be a thing.
Her defense awarded the team a lot of transition opportunities in the later half of the world cup to the point that the team looked VISIBLY more cohesive and lethal.
We just don't know if she can pass at least good enough to win the spot.

MBH's passing is not USA good. If we want MBH to start, we need an opposite who is better OOS.
Karch could never.

Having Larson be second setter is pretty invaluable. Most teams in the world don't have a non-setter/libero that can consistently hand-set good balls, which can be a little dicey in those scrappy plays. When she was talking to the Worsleys and Micah Ma'a, Lauren said that she thought the biggest thing the team needed to do was to get better at getting the ball back in out-of-system plays and then staying in system. Also worth noting that Larson looks physically much better to me after the COVID break (and she has said it herself). I also think Hill looked good against Bulgaria after not really playing VNL but got pulled for whatever reason (it worked so I'm not complaining) and then continued her break during World Cup. OH is the position that I'm the least worried about tbh. I'm more concerned about L and OPP.

She was benched in 2018 because she struggled under pressure. This will be her first OG. I will be shocked if she is a starter. Edit: 2018 World Championships.

Maybe Karch brings Plummer so that when Drews has one of her off days we can just send in Plummer to blow up people even though we rely on our OHs.
